Unless the conference breaks out into a mixed race riot, I'm not entirely interested. Seriously, an identity crisis science fair? They're only attracting bad research. We have enough problems already.

Actually, some of the topics look really accessible. Mixed race in science fiction, negotiating identities, blasian identities in hip hop. Sounds like things that would get discussed here. You're on a message board devoted to mixed race topics that has been running for years. I think they'll figure it out.

Sci-fi, that sounds interesting. Mixing races and basically making it a non issue in future society has always been a thing for sci-fi. A lot of people might laugh at science fiction as the domain for geeks, but it's got more integrity than most of the stuff in the media. Few people know this, but even Martin Luther King was a Star Trek fan. All of the hard work that guy was doing, but yet, he had to get his Trekkie on when it came on. That's amusing to me. ;D Star Trek also has the honor of being the first movie or TV show to have a white and black/interracial kiss. On another interesting note, comic writer Stan Lee invented the X-Men as symbolic of racial tensions. He based Professor X (the pacifist) on MLK Jr. and Magneto (the aggressive) on Malcolm X. Both were seeking rights for "mutants", but X wanted peace and an appreciation of differences with the rest of humanity, while Magneto's pessimism and bitterness lead him to believe that he should just fight the rest of humanity. The entire comic is a metaphor for racial marginalization, and the path you can take to heal that. On an EA note, the X-Men character Psylocke is Eurasian, played by EA actress Mei Melancon in the movies.. Probably one of the cooler Asian comic characters, since she's just a psychic. Not some stereotypical Katana weilding, Kung-Fu chick. Too bad she only had a cameo role. Quite a subtle meaning behind the X-Men, never really saw it that way... Nerdyness levels... Rising. The girl looks pretty!

Pretty amusing show. The multiracial movement? Gotta laugh. What if they offered free love and vegetarian meals with a side of LSD?
