I usually don't play fusion songs but I closed my set with Renegades of funk last night and god people were frantically hopping as if there were tomorrow. It doesn't matter if you're into rock, hip hop or electro the smart blend of metal riffs, rap singing and funk breakbeat is irresistible on the dancefloor.

Anyone enjoy chaotic bands that sound horrendous live yet put on a real show worth seeing? I find musicians are far too serious these days, the growing presence of expensive technical gear on stage deter from going nuts I guess.

The build-up is so masterfully contained while leading to the chorus' melodic explosion. Pop should always be so carefully crafted!

Damn, for the past few years a handful of remix artists like Alex Metric, Punks Jump Up or Shinichi Osawa have turned so many songs with no focus into smashing bangers!

At this moment I'm working on a project about the history of drug traffic in Mexico during the 20th Century... so I'm listening some ad hoc songs
BrujerÃa - Don Quijote Marihuana
Rammstein - Kokain
Los Tigres del Norte - La Banda del Carro Rojo (The Red Car Gang)
(8)They say they came from the south, they carry 100kg of coke, they're heading to Chicago... from the 7 who died only the crosses remain, they were heading straight to Hell (8)

Anyone can hear Supertramp's 'Crime of the Century' piano sample?

Saltillo - A Necessary End Current soundtrack to my studying. Engaging enough that it doesn't make me fall asleep, self-effacing, but always a pleasure to listen to. OK I knew I had heard this piece somewhere else it's Requiem for a Dream's theme! The two bear a troubling resemblance don't they? Could it possibly be plagiarism?

The melody is so hypnotizing, I miss low-key hip hop...

Love how it starts all nostalgic but then turns upbeat, typically the kind of thing that you never hear in modern music. I'm feeling like breaking plates. ;D

I miss low-key hip hop... I always found that "low key" stuff to be droning. To be fair, I never sat on a couch stoned and drunk bobbing my head with a hoodie over a ball cap telling the other guys on the couch "this s*** is real, yo" I think it's a generational thing. I prefer stuff from the 'golden age' where people didn't take themselves so seriously to wit,

^Because of its unusual levels of literacy, the diversity of its themes (love, family, or ancient civilizations are often covered) French hip hop is unique. I rarely listen to francophone artists but despite the language barrier I got English-speaking partygoers dance harder on old school French hip hop than on American rap more than a few times simply because of its slick beats.
A significant fringe of the production is light and fun, it's widely accepted that French high culture is exceptional but most people ignore how innovative the country's popular culture really is. The funny thing is that I discovered all this retrospectively by going through my brother's massive CD collection. After all I was a child in the 90's, the first time I went clubbing was in the early 2000's at 15, the golden era of hip hop was long gone by then.
Who think this banger is not universal?

Damn, I'll miss that while in Asia, music-wise the region is seriously lagging behind. Sorry for people who actually listen to Canto or K-pop but those two will undoubtedly score the end of the world! I don't know what I would do without Japanese noise/electro live houses and foreign dj sets at Womb and Zouk.
