well in asia i get discounts and phone numbers for being EA. here i get "hey, look! asians! go make friends with your own!"* for being half asian. i swear the US is RACIST !!!!!!!!! *and i m not lying, someone actually did say that and repeated it when i ignored the stupid comment. On the topic of racism - and I offer the following story as a light hearted joke: My friend (who is from China) and I like to joke about how many countries in Asia (especially China and Japan) could be among the most racist countries in the world. A funny story he told me... His friend is an heir to the 8th richest man in a South African country. Aside from enjoying the filthy richness, he is half black half indian and was a staple model for Ralph Lauren (I knew who this guy was before my friend told me about him because he was posted all over Ralph Lauren's web site). He dropped his father's favor and quit modeling to pursue an education at Beijing University. He went from a life of glamor and gorgeous women to being placed into Beijing University's worst housing (which seemed pretty bad based on my standards) and going to a country where he could not find a job and had zero luck with women because of his skin color. My friend also jokes that I am lucky I am fair-skinned since I am going to Japan. Aside from the older generations of Japanese hating the Chinese and Koreans, they especially hate dark skinned people (anyone know of the history of Okinawans typically being treated as second class citizens?) This is not surprising. A survey included in the book The Rice Paper Ceiling: Breaking Through Japanese Corporate Culture written in 1992, the Japanese polled at the time answered that one of the U.S.'s major reasons for their economic woes was "Too many minorities." Of course, the older Japanese generations love their homogeneity! Another high lighted account in the book was of a Japanese firm who refused to hire a black person as their secretary because "the secretary is the face of the company." Now of course I am offering spread out incidents on which I am certainly no authority, not as proof, but just to poke fun at Asia (mainly China and Japan), the places I want to go, as not being much better (if anything, probably behind) on equal rights issues based on race and sex. Yes, the U.S. is filled with bigot racists, more concentrated in some cities over others, but you'd be surprised of how ahead we are in the game of equal rights as opposed to much of the rest of the world!

Whenever people go on about keeping the race pure, etc I start to get images of inbreed people for some reason. It just scares me when people talk like that. A friend of mine that happens to be Jewish told me although she was lucky and not a product of inbreeding her other cousins were and most of them had major health issues all in the name to keep their Jewish blood pure. I'm not sure what sect she is from.
When I was little and in Southern Cali I was the only EA girl in school and as time went on a few more would pop up over time, now it's so common depending which major city you are in. I know it was a fad to be EA and cute when I was little and living in Taiwan, I did a lot of modeling and t.v shows for awhile, not that I cared to, kinda pushed into it but it was weird to have so much attention just because I was EA but that was then and now it's not so much when I am in Taiwan, China or Hong Kong. In Japan I still do get a ton of stares and smiles and people wanting to practice their english on me, LOL. But if your just white they don't seem as comfortable to go up to you and just chat, or at least that is what I noticed.

According to her and him, it's common for many Arabic people, even if they have spent almost their whole life in the United States, to go back to the "homeland" to find a wife of their own ethnicity / religion. Anyone else know people who still practice this?

^ I know some coptic egyptians still marry cousins-a friend of mine is doing that back in Cairo as I type.He had to get a genetic test done together with his wife to be to make sure that future kids could be ok-otherwise they would not have married. He is a very "modern" guy otherwise-was a hockey player for cairo africa cup etc, but after all the world travel and multi national adulation and partying with the females in every port -still wanted to marry a coptic girl , and his cousin was the one. She is about 10 years younger than him-and looks quite like his sister imo. Can't remember what side of the family she is from ( dad or mum?)Could be a second cousin?? My SIL law is also coptic- ,( but Ethiopian) and she tells me they generally think the Egyptians are crazy, but probably some rural/traditionally religious people still do it too ( plus fgm) but she thinks its very old fashioned/oppressive and thus her family went to canada.

What's wrong with sticking with your own race? Nothing. As long as you are not screwing cousins.
That stupid breeding between the lines crap makes it out as if all non-mixed people are retarded inbred hicks. In reality, you also see a lot of EA's with genetic problems, and diseases that full blooded people have.
A lot of people want to stick with their own country because they have deep rooted customs and religions and feel that they can relate more to somebody from the same background. If one can say they are inbreeding, they can also say a lot of parents of EA's are eugenicists.

People in general in all races all have those with genetic problems and disease sadly. Hmmm.. didn't say anything was wrong with sticking with whatever race I just think when I hear people get really into purity of race it starts to sound like inbreeding to me. Just like animals if you keep a breed line to pure you get big uh ohs.

Yep, it's definitely a fad ... just watch it come and go ...
E.g
Dad's an eurasian except he had a tough time when he was growing up due to the negative stigma associated with Asians in those days.
Me? Well, people nowadays seem to dig the Eurasian look and Eurasian basically equates to a compliment.
The fickleness of human society

To ask the very question of whether being EAN is a fad connotes the notion that people are viewed as objects and products rather than human beings. Unfortunately, it also reflects how we live in a society where green is the most popular color, and fashion and style are valued more than they ought to be. I do not know if being mixed will ever become the norm, but I do know that I enjoy going to Hawaii, where people just accept me for who I am.

I'm not sure what sect she is from. Outbreeding is also genetically risky. Deleterious genes are removed from the population with inbreeding -- their carriers fail to reproduce themselves. However, hybrids may be healthy, but carry unhealthy genes, which now REMAIN in the population. So, instead of undesirable genes being bred out of a population, they are retained in a hybrid population, unless it eventually becomes isolated itself.

I can't tell which one is Jessica Michibata very pretty girls but I thought us EAs were supposed to be "unique" and "exotic" ;D lol I'm thinking EAs are only more popular in comparison to monoracials in Asia. Where I live I think we're just categorized as "brown" or "yellow"

It'd better not be a fad, I'm kind of stuck with it now. Damn my irresponsible youth and poor decisions.
