What if it's a mixed household ... meaning one parent has advanced degrees and the other doesn't?

^ As you're "obsessed with social class", I was hoping you could share with me what the best answer is before I put myself out there.

Funny thing is, at least in Western Australia, "blue collar" professions such as diesel mechanics and electricians are being paid twice as much as "white collar" accountants, programmers, etc. Trust me, it isn't only in Australia. A lot of blue collar workers here not only make more money but are very coddled.

Done. Your study of EAN in socio-economics is going to be that much more complete.

I must say that the income figures cannot be absolute though as they vary from one country to another.

As far as I'm concerned, social class, in the "Old World" sense, is sort of meaningless in the U.S. All that matters is $$$. Keep the middle column in the diagram above and ditch the other two.
One could be descended from a long line of "Boston Brahmins" (think British colonial, "old money"), the son of a Hahvahd grad (or even one himself), have scholarships at Harvard Divinity School and Phillips Academy named after some ancestors, and be looked upon as belonging in the same category as white trash/redneck/hippie (depending on political orientation and personal lifestyle choices), because he happens to live a meager existence in some back-water region (yes, I know such people). Or, one could be descended from a long line of factory workers who never went to college, made it big in entertainment/sports/business/whatever, and now he's rubbing elbows with corporate executives and professionals, who might even make a little less money than he does. That's America for you. The notion of social class is a dying relic of feudal societies. It's all about income here.

^Pretty frugal....pretty interesting ideas. About going in debt for a house...I think it's overrated but good land and certain education I may perhaps if I knew the monetary reward at the end.

Whatever respect there is for anything else goes right out the window when it's compared against money. However it's not that social class is a relic. It's more that the statistical correlation between social class and money is 1. It pisses me off the way f**ktards of my parents' generation always talk about working to meet people or whatever bullsh*t. Motherf**kers need to shut your damn mouths and pay a

I'm beginning to realize now how much my parents have a hold on me. I mean I have their genes, do I have to get their social status too? I'd rather be recognized based on my own achievements ... not because of what I've been born into.
