I do believe it is very possible that Americans do wish to have a new face to the world. Already many Australians utterly despise Americans due to their racial ideologies. Especially when Americans try to condemn Aussies for the way Aboriginals are treated - pushing the blame elsewhere, Aussies explode in anger, knowing that the African-Americans suffered way more.
I think the treatment of Aborigines is somewhat more akin to the treatment of Native Americans in the USA rather than African Americans, sharing such commonalities as
- ABORIGINAL to the geographical location
- subject to GENOCIDE
- forcibly removed from native lands
- killed off partially by diseases brought by Europeans
- children removed from aboriginal communities and raised in white communities as a matter of federal policy
You see, the USA had a very entrenched apartheid system, but merely a few years after it was abolished, they chastised South Africa for theirs, even boycotting trade with South Africa. The USA had a somewhat similar policy towards its aborigines as Australia, but felt *enlightened* over abolishing theirs merely a few years before Australia.
Brazil may have been pointing their fingers at the racism in the USA, but the USA will be pointing back soon. Places like Salvador, whose population is over 70% of African descent, has a set of representatives to Congress that is nearly entirely of European descent. Brazil has been mixing their population at will but never got over their color consciousness.
