Born in an occupied country, raised in an occupied country, living in a western country, LOL nice combination! Seriously hahaha!
Well he sounds like he's through a lot of confusion. Btw, Koreans for some reason have a real serious inferiority complex I've noticed, this is not the first time I've seen them want to be 'another Asian'. The Turanist society which inspires a political union from Hungary/Finland to Japan tends to be well viewed by Koreans as it gives them a sense of pride of 'another Asian's' accomplishments both Mongol, Turkic and Uralic. BUT, we can definitely spot their mentality almost instantly.
Sad really, Koreans need a revival of their lost pride. Maybe little things such as changing the name of their country from Korea to Corea would be good. You are aware however that the educational system in Korea has been revised in south Korea by American occupants. Combine that with the mentality 'we accomplished nothing but defend ourselves' WHICH IS COMPLETELY UNTRUE, including the FIRST invention of the ironclad warship which HAS to be credited to the Koreans (Stolen by the West)... you end up with some seriously demented people.

I worked as a counsellor before, worked in the mental health deparment but one day, I ended waking up in a political realm. With what goes on in today's society, I wonder why... I see a disease being spread, so I guess, as for the sake of human health, I plan to find a vaccination to this disease. I just hope when I'm finished with my work, the vaccination will work for both Koreans and Japanese.

Heh I saw a photo once, an advertisement in colonial Africa for skin-whitening. Then I met a lady, who was a complete beauty in her photos prior to her skin-whitening treatment. "It gives me a sense of confidence", she says these days heh. Though, OMG what the heck she looks like now... I'm a qualified counsellor, I shouldn't laugh, but... LOL, damn! Heh. Confidentiality sure, but I haven't given a name so can't sue me

Umm... sorry to break the pity party but what business was it of yours and the "Japanese guy and a dozen other people" to tell him what he identifies with (japanese, not korean). It seems you were targeted later only because of the gang-like mob behaviour that was used to isolate and embarass this boy.
I did not vote because more often than not "racist" is not an appropriate term. It seems also that this behaviour occurs in young kids who are provoked or who have not yet understood the development of different cultural identities within them.
Although this was when you were both very young in primary school his strong feelings for not identifying as a korean at such a young age could be due to so many reasons that are completely and totally none of your business.
My ea cousin (younger brother of the one who is dating the hungarian I mentioned in another thread) married a girl of korean background, who was raised and lived most her life in japan. She switches her identity and affliates with both japan and korea.
Just for the record there are also tons of chinese who are besotted with japan too (some never even having stepped foot there). Not only koreans. And not to mention caucasians, and other asians. Japan is a lovely (and influential) country. Someone mentioned koreans as "needing more pride" or whatever that means which suggests that all of them need some patronizing force to re-condition and brainwash them into being other than what they already are. I have met many loud and proud koreans.
There might be misunderstanding also when he was speaking from nationality. You and the mob were insisting on ethnicity. Then the whole relationship degenerated and he began calling you racist terms like "chinaman". What is your thought on this?
In addition:
As a transplanted immigrant twice(!) I have no personal affiliation to my scots blood or german or god knows what else. Never lived in those countries. I would not introduce myself as either nationality/ethnicity, and it would not be pleasant to have someone insist I am something that plays little or zero significance in my life. I don't even identify as the country I was born in because since I was born, I've moved/lived/worked/studied quite a few times. I identify as a number of things. You're telling me I'm going to stand there and tolerate some bloke insisting on what I am just because a guy impregnated a grandmother I never met out of wedlock generations ago? Actually having traveled to some of those countries, I'll tell you I certainly prefer some peoples/cultures over others, and some blood relations are not worth mentioning. If that's "racist", I'm a walking, talking banner of racism.
Identity is generally a sensitive subject (especially for those who are bred among political wars, cultural genocide, or colonization). I am hesitant to point the racist finger at people especially those who have immigrated (bearing multiple identities) and/or individuals who are so mixed, they couldn't care less for more than half of their "blood".

I'm not sure if he's homosexual What does that have to do with anyyhing? Yes we are, including that little boy who was born in Korea and raised in Japan. And you and your friends bullying him and telling him to identify in the manner that YOU think is correct is not treating him like an individual. Your posts have equal doses of "Look how ignorant and prejudiced people are!" and stories that reflect upon your own ignorant prejudice.

I met in my german courses some years ago a guy who was racist towards jews and believed he was neo-nazi and bad. The funniest part was when our teacher, german btw, asked us to do some sentence and his always started "die Juden..." and our teacher was only like "not again". He has black hair... and a last name that lots of sefardi jews took when they came from Spain, and comes from a city, Monterrey, with many jewish people since its foundation. So, we used to make fun of him telling him that he probably had some jewish blood. He finished his career in Germany and came back a lil' bit better... he talks a lot less about racist stuff and more about blonde girls... which is some kind of improving, I guess. He now lives in Danmark and says he finally got away from hell, Mexico, for ever. He's funny... and actually a friend, so I feel glad he's happy there... and at least keeping his racist sh*t to himself.

I am hesitant to point the racist finger at people especially those who have immigrated (bearing multiple identities) and/or individuals who are so mixed, they couldn't care less for more than half of their "blood". As I mentioned already I've worked and left it voluntarily in the counselling field to the law that enforces drug usage on potentially 'dangerous' and 'psychologicaly unstable' patients which I completely disagree with as many are simply products of a 'system'. Are you going to say that this is considered normal, and that is it not a problem? I sought to improve mental health of my patients during my years of counselling and this philosophy I still adopt. I may be very unorthodox in my psychological tactics in freeing people from their own shackles but I didn't study psychology just out of a book, I studied it from my own individual experiences. As for the condemnation of such people, it is beneficial for them, because it lets them be aware that they do have a problem. Awareness is the first step of overcoming any such mentality. I know, I studied it myself. Some people can take more, some less, either way, they need to know reality that to the eyes of society, they are a laughable stock.
