I don't get offended if people ask me where I'm from, generally its well-intentioned ignorance/
When I was about 15 an Australian Aboriginal guy came up to me and asked me to show him how to do Shaolin Temple...seriously!?!

I'm going to have to go with the classic "what are you" since it seems to be the story of my life! Whether I'm casually meeting someone for the first time or even just putting gas in my car- it almost never fails. Just a couple of weeks ago a lady actually walked over from her car to mine to ask if I was Tatar of all things Oh and another winner, this time from a family member believe it or not, and sadly meant as a compliment: "You know it's only your eyes that give you away. Take away your eyes and you're completely normal; like when you wear sunglasses you can't even tell the difference." Me: .....

This is a conversation me and my friend had in Europe years ago. He's a good friend to me and he's not a racist, he's just very ignorant.
Friend: Hey, I've realised that you look Turkish Me: Turkish? Friend: Yeah, are you Muslim? Me: No! I'm Catholic and I'm not Turkish! Friend: Well you look Turkish....so you're part Chinese then? Me: Yeah well in a way yes, but China has over 56 ethnic races. I am Han Friend: Huh? I thought all Chinese were the same.....
I laughed so much after that ;D For those who don't know, the ''Chinese race'' does not exist. Chinese simply means someone that lives within China's border. So basically Han (dominant race in China), Koreans, Vietnamese, Tibetans, Uygurs (Eurasians in Chinese terms), Mongolians and Manchus are all considered ''Chinese''.
I understand why my friend mistook me for being a Turk, Turks are Eurasian
