Is it just me or is this summer shaping up to be one of the greatest ever for Hollywood Blockbusters?

Looks pretty bad to me. I'll probably watch Stark Trek, Terminator, and GI Joe, and then rant about how violated I feel as a GI Joe fan.

I left out Tarantino's new WWII movie. Since we only seem to get a Tarantino film every 5 years or so, I'm going to stick with my assessment. That, and the early reviews of Star Trek are really promising. Not saying I will even watch Harry Potter, Angels and Demons or the new Twilight movie, but I'm pretty sure they will kick ass at the box office. GI Joe, I'll have to wait and see a few trailers. I agree that Dark Knight and Iron Man were great, but I think we'll have more than two movies that are both box office and critical successes this summer. Just a hunch.

Wow, I had no idea that Inglourious Basterds was coming out so soon. Apparently, they rushed production to have it ready in time for Cannes. Hope that didn't screw it up.

New Moon comes out in November. Technically not summer... but still excited nonetheless.

You're right, they're not all summer movies. Actually, the most anticipated (by me) might be James Cameron's Avatar, which isn't due out until the December. I've never seen a 3-D movie, but when it comes to special effects, "In Cameron I trust."

Wolverine~ I want to see some claw ripping action....with a bonus of Hugh Jackman doing the job. Also, spiderman and Wolverine are probably my favourite Marvel characters too so there you go
After watching Twilight, I have never wanted to read or watch anything related to vampires as my image of vampires being blood-thirsty and evil-van-helsing-style has been screwed up with kind, shiny glittery ones. Well thats what I thought when I saw "New Moon" up there

Is Hogwarts a post-secondary educational facility, cuz...uh, Harry Potter is looking a bit mature for still being in high school.
I'm a little burnt out on movies. I might read a book or something.

After hearing Christian Bale losing it on set I want to see if he brought that to Terminator Salvation. That plus the big robots with the massive guns and stuff

I'm not at all hyped for any of this season's blockbusters. What I am looking forward to however is Guy Richie's adaptation of Sherlock Holmes, which is being released on Christmas... Robert Downey Jr is cast as Holmes and Jude Law as Watson. Should be great.
Also on my 2009 list: - The Soloist - Avatar - 2012 (just to see Hollywood's cheesy take on yet another disaster flick) - The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

Cool thread
- Michael Bay completely ruined the first Transformers on so many levels so scratch that.
- Star Trek. hmmm. Pretty dead franchise.... only interesting if completely reinvented a la batman
- Harry Potter/New Moon: Yes, if subjected to aggressive estrogen treatment
- GI Joe: Depends on who they cast as Scarlett
- Wolverine: Hell yes if it's anything remotely faithful to the original comic..... but knowing the producers/Hollywood (which crave flag waving american protagonists), they'll probably make Wolverine an American and completely gloss over his history with the Canadian military and Alpha Flight.
haven't heard of the others
