most recently, i've been attracting a lot of unwanted attention from Indian dudes in HK. i don't know why/what it is but its weird, and my friends have noticed it too and think it must be because i look a bit 'indian'. I always get a lot of attention from Indian guys when I am visiting Hong Kong. They spy me walking down the street and move quickly to intercept me. They waste no time trying to get to me go with them to their place. Of course, I tell them I am not interested but MAN they are persistent! They will follow me down the street for a bit as I don't stop walking. After a while (20 feet?) they give up. Now, these guys are trying to sell me tailoring services, so it's a little different from Helles' situation. Although...not too different...they wanted me to drop my pants too. Side note: Now that the Brit's don't rule HK (well, it's been over a decade already), where does that leave the Indians? Are they sticking around or taking off?

Rob, I had thought you were transgendered. That you were having difficulty with the opposite because it showed. And then you never made any direct references to which gender you had a specific interest in because the circumstances were that complex. But now that's clear... At what age are you allowed to be so picky?

most of the guys hawking suits I think are pakistani.... and many staying illegally. you should see the interesting dynamics they have with indonesian domestic helpers (who frequently hook up with them)
to answer your question on indians, there's been a huge influx of indians into HK over the past 5 years during the financial sector bull run..... it's amazing how they dominate the industry now despite never being in client facing roles ..... most really go out of their way to hire their own and form defensive 'packs' within organizations..... I've noticed a definite uptick in racial tension in HK now..... in the workplace, i see indian managers cleaning out chinese subordinates to replace them with other diaspora.... and outside of the office, chinese retailers/landlords treating indians as second class citizens. i see it coming to a head pretty soon and am pretty surprised at the lack of media coverage so far.

pretty much everytime i take the star ferry over to the other side, i get harassed.. and i'm trapped and can't hide! just today i was walking home for lunch and there was this indian guy who was crouching on the street with him mate eating a rice box, as i walked past i could feel him eye me up and down, next thing i know he jumps up and walks beside me and goes "hi babeh"... ummm i ran into the nearest shop.
i do feel for a lot of indians in hk, esp those born in hk and many speak really good canto too, they are kinda stuck in the middle with no real standing in HK but they dont really have anywhere else to go. but they are quite agressive when it comes to approaching people - either selling suits/watches or women.
my office is prob 25% indian, and they do stick together like a pack.

ALL THE MUSLIMS ARE NERD! the plain truth. Kant's third dictum: think before you post Ehi mom, i don't need to think, when truth is instinctive.

you do,however, need to think before posting sweeping, insulting generalizations about an ethnic group.

I had this friend/colleague in Guangzhou who, when she first arrived in China, used to complain daily about be accosted by this black chap and that black chap. I remember once who she related who an African chap had gone straight up to her and asked if she would be his girlfriend. Terrifying!
Funnily, in the end she ended up with an African guy.
...Is that what you are really afraid of Sweetfart...?
My girlfriend told me who an African guy had offered her US$3000 to spend the night with him. Such a straightforward strategy precludes any misunderstanding of his intentions!

Am I afraid of what? Ending up with a foreigner? Um no, because obviously (or hopefully) that would be by my choice. I'm not really afraid of anyone because I wouldn't go to some random guy's house alone, and in my own place...well, I own two bolt action rifles. So I don't know what you mean by afraid.

Calm down, I've never used em on a person and gosh forbid I ever have to. I was just saying if I were in eminent danger I wouldn't hesitate.
