...but if the bloke doesn't give my daughter the respect she deserves I'm nailing the bastard, end of story. I think that's why I'd prefer a son. I'd get too damn jealous and protective of my daughter. One of my ef-girlfriend's dad's threatened me one time; he was drunk, though to be fair to him, he was a d*ck at the best of times. First time I met her parents - I went to visit them at their house in HK. Dad told me I had to piss in the garden. I hadn't even indicated a desire to relieve myself. Girlfriend and her mother were appalled. What a d*ck.

Haha yeah I wanted a son too at first, a "mini-me". Doesn't look like I got my wish though.

If there is any real malice in the statements, that really annoys me. Ignorant statements I just laugh at them, which makes them feel stupid.
As for me, the majority of people are usually either s*** scared of mentioning race, a small amount think it's fair game but I can normally cut them down as it is never deviates from the set stereotypes. I do make some racial jokes about myself or other Asian people but (of course) they're all self-aggrandizing. I'm not bulletproof though, sometimes I get some racist or ignorant statement that pisses me off. It usually doesn't hit me until I've got time to think about it.
You don't have to tell me, but what kind of things are they saying?

Meh, this topic for me is rather old news now, but thanks for your inputs nonetheless. Solution seems to be just mixing in with an older crowd, everyone else just won't understand parenthood due to their age/maturity level or experience ne way.
Heh, really gives meaning to what my mates who had kids used to say to me "Mate, once you have kids, your life is all over!" Changing house, changing routine, changing plans, and even means changing friends.
