If you smoke or chew, how long? How much per day? What kind?
If you quitted, when and how?
If you don't, good for you!
I usually smoke any where from a half to full pack of Kool 100's a day. I started a few years back in high school, and I've used everything from the patch to gum to mouth numbing medication. They don't work. Apparently there's a prescription medication out there that can quell the cravings, but I don't know how I feel about that.

I can't inhale. On business trips in China, they always offer me fags and I always decline. Sometimes, though, they insist and as I puff away, they laugh and offer me more $100 fags to burn.
I heard that cigarettes help bowel movements, and back in the day, in my first year in China, I used to keep a pack by the bog and smoke up while I was sh*tting. Yup, they weren't much help but I became quite good at blowing smoke rings.

Oh, well I don't know if I noticed any difference in bowel movements. The only slight benefit I might say smoking gives is weight management, but that's just barely. I don't overeat as much because I always finish a meal with a cigarette, which curbs my appetite. Lots of people get fat when they quit.

Mostly unspoken peer pressure, I guess. I hung out with smokers in high school, and they'd always go to an area calling "smoker's corner" after school was out. I just kinda picked up on it. It didn't take long before I got hooked and became a regular smoker. Besides the stench, I've already noticed my breathing has become a little more difficult while working out and my sense of taste is weakened. Yikes

I just became chairmen of my county's tobacco coalition. The best way to quit is
a. remove yourself around people who smoke b. Patches work..you're addicted to the nicotine, not the cigarette c. find some stress relieving action that replaces it
Just realize that addiction is a disease. Your brain is hardwired to equate the need to smoke with the need to eat. Don't be afraid of drug treatment. I would go to a doctor to discuss your options. But it is good that you are starting to think about quitting.

Yes, I figured out I have more of a psychological addiction while on the patches. I think I just have an addictive nature in general. Not just to cigarettes, but soda pops, my iPod (seriously), chewing gum, and other crap. It's pretty bad. If I smell smoke of any kind (even barbecue and exhaust pipes on cars) I get a craving for a cig. lol
I think the longest I went cold turkey was a week. I couldn't sleep, couldn't sit down straight, my whole body itched, and I got into arguments with everyone around me. But I guess it just takes a lot more persistence. It's even harder when I see people who are 80 and smoked forever without ever getting cancer or raspy vocal chords. Makes me think everything's okay but I know it's not.

Why do you hate smokers?
I don't smoke, which is good, I believe. Many of my friends do, though. The poorer ones roll their own, the richer ones smoke davidoff. Smoking hierarchy.

To answer this question also: I find it pretty selfish. It's like... invading my airspace. >_<

British pubs are so much better now that smokers have step outside to light up.

Guilty here, I quit cold turkey when I learnt my wife got pregnant. But recent stress, I've ended up smoking at work whenever I'm not around her. I can't smoke around my wife/daughter obviously, I go for a drive instead. And when I walk past a kid, I make sure I move away.
Think that's my main problem, I have quit cold turkey many times, but stress gets to me and I end up lighting up again. Exercise makes me crave like crazy afterwards as well so it's no help. At least I've controlled it to the point I've minimised it to the point my wife/daughter will have no exposure.
Nonetheless, I do not wish to be a negative influence, so anyone with ideas with stress relief, tell me, either then EAN haha!
