Is there anything like an Eastern equivalent of modern Western architecture, design or even fashion that is exclusively drawn from Asian culture or techniques?
Monopoly?

I've never understood why non-Western peoples adopted Western clothing, is it cultural, economical ? Can someone please enlighten me.

Modernisation Ganbare. During those times everyone wanted to be like the gunslingers. An example is Japan, the modernisation occured after some Euro(or American? Can't remember) d--kwad fired cannons at the Japanese locals - forgot the exact name, look it up somewhere, im too lazy. Then the Japanese took the colonisation game to the very gunslingers who threatened them and overtook European colonial holdings and also won the war against Russia prior to WWI.
Nowadays it's a standard, no one wants to look like a 'primitive' tribe anymore without any guns.

It was Commodore Perry, very clever explanation, I know about Meiji restoration era but never found facts linking fashion and History. Western technological superiority in the military must've inspired Japanese to adopt both their style and technology in civil industry and warfare.

The Japanese at that time wanted to suck out everything they can from the gunslingers. Trading with colonials on equal terms also meant dressing "non-primitive".
