^ I get quite annoyed with the "Eurasians are beautiful" stereotype. I've seen and met some full blooded Asians, Caucasians, Blacks that are better looking than some Eurasians I've met or seen. There are also many unappealing Caucasians in the media and on the streets. So white is definitely not better; no race or ethnicity is more beautiful than the other. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but it can be distorted by one's reliance on what the media deems beautiful. I agree. At times it is irritating to be judged "good" because you are a certain racial type but "bad" if you are not. That is how it appears to me at times

Well anyways, he said something about my brows looking like a "gwei". Then said a few other mean things about me looking both white and asian. And something about my big "gwei lo" eyes. Then he started scorning at me. Yes, absolutely and most of it has come from local asian people (mostly chicks). Most of it stems from jealousy due to the romanticism of western looks and all its social associations and the over representation of eurasians in asian media. I've only ever gotten really nasty looks (that could kill) from Hispanic women. I've never detected any inbred hostility towards my appearance from Asians. They sometimes compare me to my Asian relatives and ask me why my eyes are so BIG. I guess they don't notice too much else... In America, I'm pretty much accepted as Asian. I've been called an "Asian brother" by a complete stranger once. So if there's ever a race riot, they're drafting me first. Asians are less picky about who is part of the racial tribe where I'm at.

^ Whao.."experiment went wrong"? That is very harsh. You must be a very strong guy to be able to take that verbal abuse. I may tell myself "hey forget about it" when I hear someone say something mean to or about me..but it is still somewhere in my mind..lingering there in my subconscience...and it manifests itself when I am sad for whatever reason. When I'm down, I just get really really low.

You haven't seen asians in asia. Really? What are they like there? Nice or nasty? Neither really. They won't treat you as one of their own, because unlike in the States or Europe, I guess they can pick and choose their own. Often if they want you to be their friends, it is often like you are a rare commodity. You will never be accepted as Asian though, unless you actually look it. They will generally consider you white, like how in Europe or the states they will consider you Asian. They wont however ostracize you or exclude you. However I have been called a Nazi due to my heritage, but they don't fully understand how serious that is, they just think its friendly banter. All in good fun I guess? ^ Well they can be nasty at times Having grown up in asia, i have been target of abuse and name calling. Too true about Mat Salleh, although I haven't really had many hostile experiences. ^ Whao.."experiment went wrong"? That is very harsh. ^ You're German right? Heck yeah, I know what you mean by the "Nazi" crap. >;[ Some have even (jokingly) called me a Nazi Triad. If you've browsed Youtube or anything about Germany or Germans...70% or more of the time you will see some idiot mentioning something about Nazis.

If anyone was German or something 100% they wouldn't really be on this forum. Haha, I am half German. True that, it does get irritating being associated with them, but where I live, it can actually get quite comical. How German are you anyway?

^ Well, I am trying to learn to call myself not "half" anything anymore, so I asked you if you were German and not "half." I read a lot of the comments here these months and I feel that people are right to say that we are a whole person. Being "half" this and "half" that makes it sound like we are a fraction. So I try to just say "German-American and Chinese" whenever I can.
I am German and American (this goes way back to the colonial days with the Brits and French etc. blah blah blah, so American is American for me). My dad's mother's side is from Germany, but my dad's dad is American. This makes 1/2 German-American and 1/2 Hong Kong Chinese...if I must break it down into fractions. If that is what you wanted to know lol.
But in terms of lifestyle...I am definitely an American and even Asian. I love crazy Asian stuff and music. But I also love German techno and trance. I would say that my mother really influenced me into liking Chinese food.

Some people I meet make a kind of slashing movement with their hand to illustrate me being half & half, lol... As if my left half is this and my right half is that... The last guy who did it made the slash rather diagonally instead of vertically, I don't really mind since he's friendly and didn't have any bad intentions. But the funny thing is that I could do that same gesture back at him, and even add an extra 'slash', since he's 1/2 viet, 1/4 filipino and 1/4 chinese ^^ kind of like cutting a cake into 3 pieces haha...

I guess most of the reactions (in Asia) is predicated on how well they know my family--my grandfather in particular. He's a village chief, provincial councilman, former Chinese Association president, and police officer. It wouldn't easy for them to ostracize me. AND my grandfather has had plenty of white women on the side--not anymore though. I've got an EA uncle (my grandfather's bastard son) I've never met before.
