This is another one of those societal expectation things... but most women (from what I've heard) would rather not date a guy who is shorter than her. I guess it's shallow to carry that mentality.
Despite the fact that I've never had a proper boyfriend, about three of the guys I fancied at a time were either my height or just a bit shorter. But then again, I am quite tall (5'10). I actually had to bend at the knees a little for the first guy I kissed.
Anyone else here wanna share their stories?

Well, this guy wasn't my boyfriend, but he did have a crush on me back in elementary school. It was during 3rd up to 5th-6th grade. During those years most girls are actually taller than guys until the first 2 years of HS which most guys have a huge growth spurt. Anyways, even though I didn't know what a "crush" was, I did feel embarrassed that I was taller than the guy who everyone knew had a crush on me. So I would wear flats all the time, not even sneakers. I also tried to carry a lot of books in my school bag so it can weigh me down so I can look shorter. I slouched on purpose as well. Then I realized how stupid this was and that it is actually normal. I just felt so embarrassed that I was taller than most everyone in class, especially the guys. Now, most guys are taller than me. I am of average height for a girl, not tall like you, maybe like 5' 6"-5' 7", somewhere there. My boyfriend is 6 feet tall and still growing... He still likes to call me a midget though >;[. To be honest, my preference is a guy who is 6 feet, give or take. Not tooooo tall. I know it immediately sounds shallow, but listen. It isn't the first thing I look for in a guy. If two guys were exactly the same in every way BUT their height (although as impossible as this sounds), lets say...one guy is 5' 5" and the other is 6'1", wouldn't most girls pick the taller guy? I don't think it is wrong to have a preference, just don't base off of it excessively. What I mean by that is, if a really nice, down-to-earth, funny guy is lacking in height, then by all means look past his stature. So girls (and guys), don't be afraid to have preferences. x)

I just won't ever tell a man "I don't like you because you're too short" or "Sorry, I don't date short guys." It just isn't a reason that is worth it. Often times than not it is not their fault for being short. It is mostly genetic and the rest is lifestyle and nutrition. Physical appearance is something that can be looked beyond so you can let their hearts shine through.

Girls that insist only on dating guys taller than them are superficial pure and simple. It's no different than a guy only dating girls with "a huge rack".
Separately, I've lived in Europe, Asia and North America and noticed the female fixation with height tends to be highest in North America. Wonder why (as Europeans are tall people as well)..... is it the beauty standard (ie. all-american blond/blue eyed 6'2" heart-throb image) foist upon on at an early age?

I put my pants on just like the rest of you -- one leg at a time. Except, once my pants are on, I make gold posts.

There are more than superficial reasons for choosing height. It might mean that he has more upward mobility. Correlation between height and income no tall storyAccording to a study by Australian National University economist Andrew Leigh and University of Sydney public health researcher Michael Kortt, every five centimetres of height are worth about $950 per annum to the average man.
"The wage gain from another 2 inches (5cm) of height is approximately equal to wage gain from one more year of labour market experience," Professor Leigh said.

I find girls as tall as me or even taller quite attractive and in some cases sexy even! Wouldn't mind dating one

My boyfriend and I are almost the exact same height (he's juuussttt a tad taller) so I feel like we're equals but if I have to wear heels then...

you know I'm 6'2" (like 187cm) but I'm really intrigued by the idea of a tall girlfriend... of course it also would mean freakishly tall children if we married

I'd have no problem dating someone taller than myself, although if she was a foot taller or something slightly mismatched it would be amusing! I think it's pretty cool to be with someone of similar height (I'm around 5'10") as, echoing a post above, it does give off some sort of weird sentiment of being equals - as strange as it sounds. Mind, there's nothing wrong with someone shorter or taller - just speaking from my own experience so far.

Even though height isn't as much of a pang for females, I do have a sort of Napoleon complex. I'm not athletic, but I will intentionally pick up some traits here and there that subtly allude to power in some way. This may be why I don't allow chivalry, I pay for meals on dates, and I don't cry.

I'm on the short side myself, so guys shorter than me are pretty damn short. I don't often even see guys that short. I did once date a guy about an inch shorter than me. He was f***ing cute. I guess for the right guy there really are no dealbreakers. Though I prefer a couple inches taller, I wouldn't really care if it was someone I liked a lot.

hmmm... come to think of it... most boys i've dated (not that i can remember all their heights u know)... or had relationships with... are around my height, only a tad bit taller or a tad bit shorter. with heels i always come up taller than all of em ofcurz (n i love to wear those killer porn-star high heels).
i think that in a way, i kinda like boys to be just around my height, i find guys who are not so tall to be so cute. and i prefer cute n pretty boyish bad boy boys rather than the tall dark n handsome mr manly man ones...
