I feel compelled to argue for TV because there are lots of oh so superior types who are just too cool - OF COURSE you are doing more important, interesting, and intellectual things. You're better than me, I admit it. Now let me finish season 4 of Lost in peace. You're arguing alone, you made a statement, I simply asked you what exactly was behind it, if you have some resentment, that's your problem. I think it was palavore who posted a great documentary on aspirational TV. BBC, very often the precursor on documenting emerging trends.

FWIW I wasn't referring to you, just an attitude that is out there. I have no resentment, and a lot of my posts were a little tongue-in-cheek and devil's-advocacy. Sorry if you missed that!!!
After all, you admitted you like 30 rock so you're hardly assuming a superior attitude.
But I'm always half-serious.

Lost season premiere tonight! One of the few TV shows in America with multiple Asian leads (and macho kick-ass ones at that). I'm just glad they finally let Jin learn English.

Heroes season 4 was a torture to watch, cannot believe this show earned the highest ratings back in 2006. Nevertheless I'm still hoping for a fifth one to wrap up this once promising narrative mess.

Been tuning in for 'How to make it in America' on HBO. Loving the hipster NYC caught on film, that and the stunning Eurasian Shannyn Sossamon.

While shopping for BBQ sauce at K-town, I learned that a second season of Full House (a popular cheesy drama my girl loves) is being shot, fighting!

I've been getting into How to make it in America, too! Really makes me want to visit New York again. My only complaint with the show is that I'm not super into Cam's cousin's storyline and I wish they would just focus more on Ben and Cam.
I'm also getting into Community and Parks and Recreation. I love Thursday nights.

Every female friends that know about the show seem to hate it, too bromance-y for them. Do you find the way women are portrayed to be offensive? Exactly, my opinion, the producers should just focus on this particular demographic, you can't please everyone. Anyways I can relate to the show because it's kind of what I'm living here, L.E.S subcultures, party scene.
I've been watching Breaking Bad as well, probably the best show on TV right now, the premise is just genius: a dying from cancer ordinary chemistry teacher turns into crystal meth druglord to insure his family's future. There are way too many great TV shows to have a real life. Sadly, we all have to make painful choices, sometimes I just wish I were a 60 yo retiree and watch films (on my rockin' chair), listen to records and surf the web all day long. Days need to be 6 hours longer, argh !

I dunno, I also like Entourage, which I think is much more extreme in that manner. I guess not so surprising that How To Make It In America is done by the same people.

You're not a feminist type then, every weeks I hear girls complain about the objectification of females in fiction. I conclude that a tv show about gigolos could potentially work.

Do anyone actually watch TV anymore? I haven't turned mine on for a year, I find it terrible compared to the net, too many formated concepts or reality shows. It's sad because things used to be different a couple years ago, MTV aired great shows. I guess TV comedy like Jonovision or Mad TV belongs to a certain past.

NBA Playoffs! Of course the only upset so far is the team I actually want to win (stupid Suns).

Haha, no I consider myself pretty feminist but entourage and how to make it in america are so beyond my realm of existence that the portrayal of both men and women don't really offend me. i'm more concerned for younger females who seem to think their only social currency is their youth and sexuality.

Anyone watching Breaking Bad? The show is so well-written many crime drama movies fall short in comparison not to mention the sour humour: a money-laundering lawyer boasting with pride his possibly fake American Samoa University diploma lol! A 10 y-o kid contemptfully asking the hero to bounce after a drugs transaction. A dinner's candid atmosphere ruined by elaborate biochemistry explanations on the origin of tastes (my brother does the exact same thing to us with his obscure technical discussions). The balance between tension, comic relief and reflection in this show is brilliant.
