Rick Reilly's first article does kind of seem like he just watched the Joe "I am Canadian" rant and took those stereotypes.
The way we got smacked down in Hockey today was just sad though. At least watching it in a pub in America means most people walked away happy. Maybe playing the Germans and getting an extra game of "practice" in there will help us, though it looks like we'll play the Russians in the quarters which will be intense.

Speaking of US/Canada relations, I thought Tom Brokaw did a good job on this piece explaining Canada to Americans.
Although, I don't think Canadians have had any trouble being in your face patriotic in Vancouver.

This was the greatest Olympics ever for Canada without a doubt. And the most thrilling conclusion to an Olympic ice hockey tournament (even more so with Crosby scoring the overtime goal - doing the Halifax Regional Municipality proud). Watching it in the US with a few American hockey fans only made it sweeter, though I guess I missed out on some huge impromptu street parties.

The Olympics did not start well but man, a historical 14 gold medals ! Compared to the Montreal and Calgary disasters, totally. Who would have thought Canucks had so much national pride? This kind of made the people considering Canada to be the US 51st state shut up.

I'm glad I got back in Canada just in time for the Hockey final ! Never ever seen the atmosphere so supercharged (despite the 5° below zero), people partying like crazy in the streets of Montreal and that's even compared to the 2006 Italian World Cup triumphant celebration!
I'd be grateful if some members could tell us what was the host city atmosphere like, I hear it was a sight to behold as well, Vancouterites actually friendly, HAHAHA.
With the whole media fuss, I'm unsure if I should be sad because of the remarked absence of French at the opening ceremony or because Quebecers cried about it (again).
