Once deemed the saviors of garage rock, they sure didn't stay under the spotlight for very long.

I wish I could see people breakdancing in Chinatown more often. Is it me or the video's a cute allegory of multicultural societies?

Their guitar work is so elaborate and emotional it never gets old.

Can't get enough of angular riffs, unorthodox motifs, disharmony and 6 beats per measure drumming goodness.

Penguin, cool song. Amadou et Mariam is one of my favorite World music band. It so damn great to experience things in their original language ! I love this one, very evocative of African village life, a little bittersweet.
Better listened on a rainy day. Minimalism is rapture.

I was the first one to say enough to the past 5 years trend of folk and acoustic music but José Gonzalez' Scandinavian intonation is so soothing.

Paradoxically pop and r'n'b were the most innovative genres of the zeros. Producers like The Neptunes and Timberland brought the sound to a whole new level.
'Like I love you' has barely anything to do with previous decade pop music, the song is an ode to funk breakbeat, the melody is built on Spanish guitar and it features a rapped verse, not to mention the keyboard arrangement. Hard not to finding this catchy!

Love stop motion. Me and my friends used to do the exact same thing in Zellers messing around, playing sports in the aisles. Clerks didn't give a damn back then rofl..

One of my favourite songs... from Pungent Stench a Austrian pioneering band in Death Metal... with some jazz influences in that song
Carbonized... a really weird metal band from Sweden...
Bersuit Vergarabat - La Soledad... an amazing band from Argentina
Panteón Rococó... one of the best ska bands in México!

Mash-up culture has underwent so much change, it's so melodic and poppy now. I miss the early days of mixing glitch noises and lo-fi samples on my Pentium III desktop back in '04. Damn you, Girl Talk.
