Hey all, I've been exploring the forums, and I noticed a lack of a fashion thread (one were guys are welcome too). Considering our blend of cultures, I think that gives us a lot of room for play for style examples. I love seeing unique pieces come together and working. I'm a sucker for cool jackets. I used to help mod a men's style forum, and since it shut down I haven't been getting much of an outlet Some searching around www.yesstyle.com is a great example with what's possible, but also what's pulled together well. Looking good plays a BIG role in feeling confident. www.yesstyle.com/en/motobe-one-button-blazer/info.html/pid.1022576538Do you guys feel a need to express your half status in your clothing? Great thread! Concerning traditional Asian fashion I don't find anything really attractive outside of ceremonial kimonos but I'm not Japanese so I have no particular reason to wear those. However, I enjoy modern Asian fashion but not the clubbing stylish type, I'm more into street apparel brands such as Revolver, Uniqlo, BBC or Evisu which are all distinctively unique in terms of designs, long-lasting fabrics but they generally are astoundingly expensive.

If I could afford it I'd have all my clothing custom made . But I tend to gravitate toward certain brands then mix and match. Uniqlo's stuff looks great, but tends to NOT be in my size. I like an urban street look, but dressed up a bit. Think pinstripe trousers, mandarin collar shirt with a leather jacket and John Fluevog shoes. I'll be putting that together once I find a jacket that works for me in my budget

Your avatar is sparkling, I grew up eating those noodles! The Japanese have such an engrossing visual culture, it's almost scary. I like to dress up occasionally, cashmere blazers, wool cardigans and Fred Perry polos but I stay true to my roots most of the time which why I sometimes mix and match more classic styles with sneakers and jeans.

I've occasionally sported the sarong/t-shirt/sandals combo. That's really about it for Asian stylings.
When I was younger, I was really into runway brands and expensive clothes, but I grew out of that. Then there was my dressing-up phase (turtlenecks, blazers, that kind of stuff) and damn am I glad to be over that. If you can rock it, do it, but I always felt so awkward.
Here's my wardrobe at the moment:
2 pairs Wrangler Vintage/Premium jeans for everyday wear a few random t-shirts to go with 2 khakis by Dockers 3 pairs Levi's 501 preshrunk jeans for restaurants and stuff assortment of polo shirts by Ralph Lauren and Lacoste 2 Columbia Steens Mountain fleece sweaters 1 fitted Yves Saint Laurent suit for formal occasions
Shoes: Brooks running shoes Corcoran jump boots Converse Chuck Taylor All-Starts high tops

You can never go wrong with Levi 501. I really enjoyed breaking in and shrinking my jeans myself though. there's an immense feeling of satisfaction when it was YOUR knees that made those distress marks, and the pocket watch pouch has a clear outline of the zippo I always keep in there, whether or not I actually have smokes.

I would not miss all the grandma vintage-dressed hippies dancing through the streets of the lower east side as if they were in a MGMT video if it weren't for the greasy-haired, tight tees-wearing clubbers here. People have no shame these days.
