"Nice skirt!"
Random - Apparently LM Montgomery has expressed intense dislike for Anne because the protagonist exploded in such popularity amongst audiences. It hindered the selling of other writings because Anne of Green Gables the series was so much in demand.. similar to Marlowe's Tamburlaine, but for different more lifethreatening reasons. It's a pity he had to be killed off.

I love Anne. I need to make my way over to PEI one of these days. That's a shame to hear.
When you say it hindered the selling of other writings, do you mean LM Montogomery's works (non-Anne releated) or other books in general?

Interesting. She hated Anne! Yet she wrote all those books....Well, I guess she had to pay the bills.
Anyways,I received a great compliment today when I went shopping with my son. This woman asks me if how old Alex is and I tell her 4 months. This lady says it can't be. She says I look too skinny. "How could you have shed all that weight in 4 months!"
Feeling happy...although still not as tight and toned as before, at least I am getting there and people are noticing. Hurray!

Hmm. Nikki, it came up briefly in conversation with someone (the Montgomery part, I know it was definately a concern for Marlowe), and I was under the impression that it was her own later writings that were affected. I'm not surprised if sales in other books for young girls dipped considerably, sort of like the Harry Potter surge now. I saw a HP Lego set (!) today while shopping for the younger cousins. There's a whole empire. Are there Anne of Green Gables action figures or dolls? Congrats Alexmom. I.. am starting to have hope I may not remain a silly putty with no more elasticity after childbirth.

That's kind of bizarre. I would have though as an author she'd be pleased by the success of her books. She obviously worked off the same theme when she wrote her Emily series that followed (which are also awesome btw, Nurse, if you haven't read them yet). Emily's got a bit of a bite to her though, which I enjoy.
Don't know about Anne 'action-figures.' Don't think they'd be able to do much besides carry books or slam slates over Gilbert's head. On second thought, that might be kind of cool.

[/b] The secret is to keep active while pregnant. I swam 3 days a week. The next main thing that I highly recommend is to breastfeed. Milk takes energy to produce. Right now I am actually eating more than when I was pregnant. My doctor told me that the average nursing mother burns 600 calories a day.! That's just producing milk...no exercising. (Hmm...maybe I should be a lactation consultant....) Do those things and you'll be getting lots of compliments while out with your future babies! And oh yeah...if there were Anne Dolls I would snap them up in a heartbeat.

Aw. I read some Anne of Green Gables and liked the storyline but didn't keep up with it. For some reason whenever there's a continuous series that seems neverending, the value of each episode seems to decrease.. Anne also reminded me of Pippi Longstocking (who I was in love with). lol, I would buy an Anne action figure. In any case, I'm pretty sure Mont. rode out her success but it gets tiring when one of your characters overwhelms all your later protagonists? Or being pressured to construct characters similar to the previous superstar. I wonder how large the timespan between publications of Anne and Emily were.
Hmm. I will keep the swimming in mind. I have a lactating question.. do mothers lactate indefinately if she keeps breastfeeding? Ie. wetnurses etc, and it can actually go on for months? years?.

Didn't Anne of Green Gables 3 suck? I will never watch it again. I watched it when it first came out years ago and was severely disappointed. The storyline sucked and was so different from the first two. Anne looked so much older as well. It just wasn't believable.
In regards to compliments, a guy recently told me that I have a dynamic personality.
