Hello everyone, I am a PhD student in American Studies at University of Hawai'i at Manoa and am doing a research paper regarding mixed race Asian Americans and dating/marriage patterns. If you are interesting in responding to the following questions, I would very much appreciate the input and thoughts of the mixed race Asian American community.
Questions: How do you self-identify ethnically and racially?
What has shaped your self-identity? Please list any of the following and feel free to add explanations. Race, ethncity, cultural upbringing, generational status, gender, sexual orientation, language, country of origin, race of your mother, race of your father?
Who do you date? Who are your ideal dating and marriage partners? What informs these choices? Do you feel that who you date is political, a "hyper-conscious decision," will be offensive to family and/or community?
Any and all feedback is appreciated. If you would like to contribute outside of this forum, please send any emails to valerielo23@gmail.com.
Thank you for your help!
Valerie

Ohh dear..so many questions..so let me be concise,
Im mostly asian, women studying Masters at Kyushu Inst. of Technology, Japan I havent married an American men so i cant comment abt that but i have dated some. Those some are basiccaly American men I met in Japan so this might not be American ppl in generally. I find American men are roughly devided into 2 types. (1)The I-think-Im-Bl00dy-hot-so-im-gonna-try-to-bone-as-much-women-i-can (2)The losers. (in most case these guys have just been ditched by their gf and u could recognize them in their drunken stupor)
so basiccally, what im trying to say is its difficult to find a moderate american men.
p/s: I self identify myself as a new race.
