The T-dot. That's cool. I was just there a few months back. The city's starting to grow on me every time I visit. Are you born and raised there? Yep born and raised in T.O. and you in Calgary? Richmond BC is my hometown. Born and raised initially in East Vancouver. Calgary's been my home for about six years now. It's very different here, in a good way. When I was in Toronto I went to this HUGE Asian shopping mall. It was awesome. And hang in there with school. I think it took me six years to get my "four year" degree.

hey Jolie, as a fellow 5th year student i have to say that there's no shame in the victory lap! and well done on your law school applications. you're a shoe-in! i'm really sorry to hear about your dad. it must be so hard for your family to deal with his loss. especially since he was so young and it was so sudden. if you haven't already it might not be a bad idea to check out the counselling services that your school offers. there may also be a bereavement support group on campus that might be helpful for you. just make sure you take care of yourself. Thanks Xandra. It's funny when I'm a 5th yr student and I've enrolled myself into a 3rd yr class. I feel so old, lol. I am no longer mourning my dad, I don't think. I just miss him and know he's ok. It's just I've been stressed with planning my own future and the expectations everyone including myself have about my getting into law school. Also, I'm getting married in the Fall of 2008, finally -- lol and it's hard thinking my dad won't be there. Otherwise, I think my mom's grieving has bothered me because now she's super-emotional and irrational. They would have celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary soon, so I understand. But her taking it out on us and my family sucks. That's why Maile had to go to her paternal grandmother cuz my mom has gone a lil "nuts", for lack of a better word.

I have family on my dad's side from Vancouver, but from Burnaby.

Just noticed this thread.
Yup, I'm a returnee. I've been away from the Nation for about 3 years. There was a time when I was here pretty much all the time for the best part of a year or more. It was a revelation and life-changing experience to become a part of this cyber-community.
And then I got busy with work. I also started going out with Clare who I met though EAN. Having my own EA girlfriend filled a big space and helped to find a lot of answers (and raise even more questions!). We split 2 years ago and I've nbeen to busy to find my way back until now.
I've left China and am now a student in London (MA Chinese Studies). I should be studying, but I feel that EAN deserves my attention and in a way, the website compliments my studies.
Great to be back! There quite a few old friends still hanging around.
Joolie, sorry to hear about your father.

This is too easy, man. I wanna answer, but I also don't wanna be like the person with whom nobody will play Trivial Pursuit.
