Right I know there have been tons of threads on EA features.. I just want to set the record straight. All the EAs I have known have had dark brown or black hair and brown eyes (whatever the shade of brown). I suppose this is simply because the Asian gene is dominant, but it is also said that children follow more strongly after the father in appearance, so what if you're father has blue eyes and blonde hair? I just wanted to know whether the dark eyes/dark hair thing is a justified stereotype for Eurasians.
Remember to vote according to your natural hair and eye colour. Discuss if you want.

it is also said that children follow more strongly after the father in appearance I don't think that assumption is supported by anything? I mean, even intraracially or within the same family - different children can look more like the mom or dad. It's probably evenly-divided, if anything.

I have dark hair and light eyes (green). Contrary to what other people say about eye color and eurasians, it is possible to attain light colored eyes with a full asian parent + caucasian parent. Although the only problem I have with lighter colored eyes is that it makes me look even more 'unusual'...if I'm using the correct word here..

Yup, i have green eyes too. I know what you mean with the 'unusual' look - but people dont really seem to notice, i also have brown hair - i dont understand that because both my parents and grandparents have black hair. (I heard about the thing about looking more like your dad - i saw it on tv somewhere - hmmm...)

By looking at the poll so far it looks like the majority of EA's on this forum have dark brown or black hair & brown eyes. So to a certain extent your survey has proved true that many Eurasians have dark(brown/black) hair and eyes. However the reason for this may be more complicated than just the asian gene being more dominant, or you follow more strongly after the father in appearance. Its probably a combination of different factors.

off topic Do you know that you look like Uzbek? Who's uzbek? Do you mean I look Uzbek? In that case, no I don't really know what people from Uzbekistan look like.. And boxrebl --->While I dont be claim to be an expert in genetics, I have been hearing this a lot on TV documentaries on the subject. I suppose it is credible...

You only need one copy of a "brown eyed gene" to have brown (dark) eyes, but to have blue (light) eyes you need two copies of the "blue" version of the gene. It is strange that my nephew has blue eyes, although his mother has brown eyes. I have also seen a girl with blue eyes although both of her parents have brown eyes.

There are quite a number of students from former soviet countries here, and they look very hapa. I have black hair and brown eyes. boring.

Yeah thats the thing about genes, they're unpredictable. They can lay dormant and skip generations.

8-)Got dark brown hair and green eyes.
One time when I was tripping in my high school days I looked in the mirror and my eyes were top half green and bottom half blue (I was mixing quite a few drugs at the time).
Mother black hair black eyes. Father very light brown hair and grey eyes.
And for some strange reason I got some red hair in my beard, because my grandmother had red hair. I got the whole mix.

Most of my EA cousins and as well as my half-bro and sis who's father is completely caucasian with bright blue eyes, have all came out with brown eyes and brown hair, but really light skin (caucasian skin). My real sister and I are a little more tan and have darker hair because our father is a Sicilian/Spanish/European mix.
Dark hair and eyes are definately a dominant gene.

It is strange that my nephew has blue eyes, although his mother has brown eyes. I have also seen a girl with blue eyes although both of her parents have brown eyes. This isn't entirely true - this situation would only work if eye colour was controlled by one gene with multiple alleles (the gene being "eye colour" and the alleles being the different colours ie blue, brown, green etc), which is simple Mendelian genetics (what you would learn in high school). However, human traits are rarely, if ever, simply Mendelian. Eye colour is controlled by multiple genes, not just one, and each of these genes have multiple alleles. The different interactions of the different genes (each with their own characteristic dominant and recessive alleles) combine to form an overall eye colour, ie. what you see. It just happens that in the majority of the cases, brown eye colour is dominant in eurasians. Also the differering interactions (which vary from person to person) explain why you can get different shades of an eye colour, not just one uniform shade. Combine that with the fact that no one knows what combinations of genes your parents will actually pass to you, as well as the chances that not all the genes that they DO pass to you will be expressed...so I guess the message is, anything is possible when it comes to genetics, and you shouldn't automatically blame the milkman if your child has blue eyes
