Hi im new here I want to ask a question about this particular mix. Has anyone noticed that children of this admixture always turn out looking completly caucasian or naturally tanned. For instance all these people below are half East Indian... Anyway you get the idea. I was wondering why children of this mixture always come out looking more caucasian then indian. Maybe somebody who knows about genetics can answer it? (sorry if it seems a stupid question )

That's true, but i think she is a minority.
I lived in england for a while (place called leicester) which had a rather large number of mixed kids of East indian/white descent, and the vast majority of these kids looked whites although the odd one did take after their indian side.

Some people think they look 50/50 others think they look completely white. Yeah i forgot about norah jones. Im not too sure what to make of her. I think she does have a little bit of the "ethnic" look about her.

One of my professors is half Indian/ half Russian, and she could pass as full Indian. However, if her skin was lighter she could be Greek or Italian.
I know nothing about genetics.

My spin is that Indians exhibit Aryan features and since they are offspring of the true Aryan Invaders and the native population ..Dravidian and many others that the Aryan invaders left an overwhelming genetic mark on the population. Indians are very dark for the most part but that is also because of intermixing, other invasions and the environment. Many of them look Middle Eastern the more Whiter Caucasian variety to 100% White. But it's the luck of the draw of course.

Some Indians even if they aren't mixed look white, Aishwarya Rai , for example, although I have never seen such a beautiful white woman like Ayshvarya Rai in my life. And probably I will never see.

Nah I don't think they're all Caucasian (soid), most of the Indians with Caucasian genetics are in the higher castes. Generally these people also have lighter skin, and the lighter pigmentation you have, the better status you have also. Not all Indians think this way but alot of ethnic Indians are still very class concious, particularly in the country side, away from the large cities.
Indians prefer to intermarry within their caste, it increases the chance of maintaining their genepool or the chance of having a lighter skinned baby. Of course this may also be because affluent people don't have to work in environments where there is less sun exposure.
Although it's not just about pigmentation, a good indication should be their facial features, nose tip, facial structure etc. Perhaps they don't have Caucasian ancestors, but intermixed with the Persians or other Semitic tribes, whom were considered Asiatics.

I agree. Ive heard in very north India and Pakistan you see strange things like people with blond/red hair and blue/green eyes. So its not surprising if someone Indian had this in their bloodline their children would look more Caucasian.

We have the same ancestors so having features that 98% of the population don't have can happen. edit: Not sure if Persians were called Asiatics during that time.
