I completely agree with simmie. All she said was she thinks you look Filipino, as did her helper (and I think you do, too) and you went nutso.
You even said yourself "people think that I'm Latino, but I look more filipino" What's your problem?

I don't look the typical native filipino. I know that, bec. I am from mixed heritage, but I am able to identify with them since I'm fluent with the language and know the culture even though I am an American. If I don't say anything I don't think they would know I am Filipino same as chunkmuffin.  You jump on my case when I say you do not look Latino, you go on the defense when I say that u look filipino, yet u are happy when someone says that u do look Latino. I am annoyed because I think it is a shame u deny what u are. You say u are proud blah blah blah yet as I pointed out in the above paragraph, your actions counteract these great words and claims of yours. As they say, actions speak louder than words. I never said deny that you are part German. Just tell me where I said that...? Yep, that's right, I didn't say that. Yet again, one of your sweeping assumptions. I don't feel bad at all when u tell me that I am only "average looking"..I don't feel bad when u tell me I don't look EA, or that I look 100% white. I don't really care what you think, I look what I am and even if I don't it is still what I am . You trying to tell me what I am and trying to say I am not in anyway attractive does nothing to hit my self-esteem and confidence. I am perfectly happy with how I look, and perfectly happy with my ethnicity. Futhermore, when u do this, it doesn't do anything except to reaffirm that you are on the defense, and as a result, try to attack me because u feel offended that I say that u look like what you are. |

First of all you responded to what I posted. I do look filipino ok, my father have a spanish last name montemayor and yet I kept my native last name. Does that sound like I deny who I am? I even post my name on the website <--that's me google it if you like. The reason why people keep saying I'm Latino is because two of the Mexican professor at my school thought I was hispanic. I disagree with that.. Do you want me to just stop posting here? I don't really like to fight you know.. Just tell me and I'll delete my account. |

yeah, i agree it completely turned into a fight..OK, simmie im sorry if I ever offended you on this thread or any other thread and it is not my intention. I know that you have offended me probably because you don't know me well and there's a lot of misunderstanding. I'm only sharing my experience where I live in Maryland and that's my personal experience. Do not discredit my observations because I have live my observation as my life. I state my opinion and I know that people won't like all the things that I say, but thats my own personal opinion. This is a community and it should be treated like that people with different perspective and experiences. If you don't like my opinion I'll leave. I'll delete the pics that I posted because I don't like floating images of me online. I would've never posted a picture of me or shared my experience with you guys if I don't feel comfortable. If the mods or anyone wants me to go I'll gladly deleted my account and never come back on this site.

I was only stating the truth, I don't see the need to apologise for that.
Perhaps it's time someone said it. You read the posts, you tell me he doesn't seem to take offence that I said he looked exactly what he is racially. I am not going to lie and feed his wish to look like a latino- that is not what I see, it is not what another full-blood filipino sees.
As for what he said about me...first he insulted where I live; secondly, he insulted what I look like; thirdly, he insulted my knowledge of asia, and; finally, he said that I was acting superior towards the asian race.
Being as I am completely comfortable in my knowledge that what he said was a load of presumtuous rubbish with no factual background, and with no evidence whatsoever, I take no offence.
However, it was still completely uncalled for.

I never denied who I am judge me if you like. I've been there done that. I don't really like arguing with a woman. I lived with 3 sisters and a single mother and its a handful..I'm sorry if that will change anything.. BTW, people in the US see Latino as low as Blacks? Asian people in the US have higher median income than Whites.. Anyways, Yeah I look full filipino. I'm pretty sure you are offended because you would respond as fast as possible. I'm not about to give a half ass apology, but I'm sorry. Just let me be... ok

Almost. Depends on where you are, but in Los Angeles, where there is a very large Latino population, they are seen as "invading" the state and sucking up the resources by not paying taxes, using emergency services, and bringing down the neighborhoods where they move into. The high society Hispanics (the ones who make it to become lawyers, doctors, etc.) are looked on as favorable Latinos, but they are still considered inferior by the White ruling class. It seems this rule holds in New York, Paris, London, and almost anywhere in the world with a large White population. When you consider ALL Whites, yes. There is a significant White population in rural parts of the US, especially the mid-west, central, and northeast/northwest areas who do not earn high salaries (raising cattle and corn aren't as lucrative). However, if you compare geographic areas, such as people living in NY, San Fran, LA, DC, Seattle, etc., you will see Whites have a higher median income compared to Asians where they actually compete together. Check the latest US Census ( www.census.gov/) for this info. Asians are looked down upon in general by most Whites as well. Being Eurasian with a White last name and having penetrated some of the business market and relationship market has given me some good insight on what is thought of the groups. It would appear from your postings that you really want to look more Latino, but everyone else considers you Filipino looking, which bothers you. I'm sorry to say that no matter what YOU think you want to be thought of, others will always decide for themselves what you look like to them. When a large number of others thinks this way, it's hard to swing the vote, and you'll always be considered Filipino by the majority. I can want to identify with Black/Jamaican all day long, speak the language, learn the music/culture, but NO ONE will every say that I look black. I just don't. I don't really want to be identified as one, so it doesn't hurt me emotionally much when I am not considered black. |
