I'm with alexsmom on this. You need to listen to yourselves sometime. Why is it that you all gush over green/blue eyes? There are many examples of this, not just on this thread. Seriously, ask yourselves this. The implication that it is better/more desirable is quite clear from where I'm standing. Coupled with comments like "Damn those dominant Asian genes" what impression would this give to someone just coming to this site?
I'm sure no harm was meant in any of the talk about wanting green or blue eyes, but am I wrong to think this speaks a lot about our perceptions, our metality of what is better or worse?

Brown with a dab of green. But as each year goes past I i swear there is more green. Plus I have 20/20 vision no need for glasses. The rest of my family has. So I pretty lucky. My wife(Korean) is hoping that our son will have green eyes ;D Is your mother or father Korean? Well, in a few months when Happy hooligan's wife gives birth and when and if they indeed post the pictures...if that kid has green eyes I can already hear the ooh's and aah's. And if the half korean baby has blond hair and green eyes ...he'll probably be regarded as the second coming of Christ or something.

A lot of women gush over Italian men as well. I don't think there's anything wrong with it either.

What's wrong with brown eyes? Why would this Korean woman HOPE for a baby with green eyes?
What the hell is wrong with brown eyes? Maybe she is hoping it will erase the Korean-ness out of her baby.

Nothing wrong with brown eyes. Nothing wrong with wanting green eyes either. And if she wants to breed the koreanness out of her, that's her choice.

Wow, you either have a remarkable memory or this is the biggest coincidence as my husband is Italian. And if she wants to breed the koreanness out of her, that's her choice. Of course it's her prerogative. I'm just talking about the trends I see, what it says to me, and asking if I've gotten the wrong impression. No one has said that I have gotten the wrong impression and explained why.

No, I remembered you from the thread about whether having a non-asian spouse/partner should diminish your voice in asian american activism.

This reminds me of the book "The Bluest Eye" by Toni Morrison. Interesting read about African American issues. I should re-read it , I don't remember most of it anymore. Blue and green eyes are considered beautiful because they are rare and are equated with whiteness.
I remember my grandma wanted me to have blue eyes lol... She even took a picture of me in the park with the blond haired, blued eyed girl in the center and me off to the side. Crazy old bat. Why can't I have a sweet grandma like everyone else?

No, I remembered you from the thread about whether having a non-asian spouse/partner should diminish your voice in asian american activism. I see. And where have you seen me gushing over Italian men? May I ask why you chose to answer me with that comment? What does the nationality of my husband have to do with what I've observed? I think I can see where this is going, but before I jump to conclusions, I'll ask for your side of it. Why can't I have a sweet grandma like everyone else? I don't have a sweet grandmother either. Actually she is quite racist against anyone who isn't Chinese. She must hate herself as she's Eurasian.

She got a baby girl (me) with muddy green eyes... (I'm the freak of my families :X) instead of muddy blue eyes.
