^ That's a nice way of looking at it.
Another thing to add to the list of things I tell myself ..

^ Actually it's the other way around. Daughters usually get most of their dominate genes from fathers while sons get them from their mothers.. like the blue eyed trait. i've never heard of this. i think i was told that blue eyes are a recessive gene, a "lurker" if you will, and like Vestirse said, x-linked traits are the only genes determined by sex--colorblindedness, etc. but i could be & probably am totally & completely wrong. No, you're both right and I'm wrong. There's more to genetics and the finality of my comment left no room for straying which there always is. I did more reading up.. a good lesson. The crossover effect is supposedly completely random. Even the theory of eye color, brown being the only dominate and others recessive is outdated. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eye_colormuseum.thetech.org/ugenetics/eyeCalc/eyecalculator.html

Sorry if I sounded harsh. Re-reading my post, I realize it probably sounds that way. I was having a bit of an off-night that night. You are completely right about the theory of eye color. Can't be solved with a Punnett square. Otherwise how could we account for the various eye colors and degrees of shades we see? As Thaite explained, eye color is not as simple as dominant and recessive, though of course it is part of the entire equation. However, it is one we've yet to solve, You are on the mark about color-blindness though. This is why there are many more colorblind men than woman. It's carried on the X and men have no addition X to combat it.

Being called out for giving false information is good. How else would people learn if not the right way? Still, it's a b*tch having to admit when you're wrong.

Unbelieveable, why are you all still using racist stereotypes to describe yourselves! I swear people here would say even your Asian mother was 6'10 and you turned out to be 5'2 you'd swear it was your Asian genes that made you short. Nothings changed I see... P.S. As for father vs. mother genes, go Wiki Tigans and Lygers, one of the few examples in nature where it seems father vs. mother determines size and other things. But humans are still genetically one race unlike Tigers and Lions so it does not apply here.

Hmm...everyone already probably knows how I feel so instead of concentrating on butt, boobs or how fat or skinny I am and attributing that to the same old tired stereotypes I'll instead talk about other body parts that get left out.
My oily skin - from my mom. I keep Proactive in business.
My psoriasis on my elbows, knees, and scalp. - From my dad. Thanks alot pops. Everyone always knows when I am stressed because that's when my psoriasis acts up. I hate having it in the summer. I usually go into hiding.
My cleft chin- from my dad. Not the most feminine chin. Thus the reason I got mistaken for being a male once when I was in the Army.
Earlobes- both my parents have free earlobes, mine are attached. How did this happen? I must be adopted.
eyebrows- mine are bushy...both my parents have thin eyebrows and yet I look like an animal and have to get them done every so often. I have no idea which one of my parents gave me this gene but I am not happy with it.
My gastrocnemis, tibialis anterior, peroneus longus, Quadriceps,etc,etc,- One thing I am proud of. I was blessed with stong leg muscles. In school I always beat everyone in running despite my lowly height. In the Army I was always one of the top runners wherever I went.
Thanks mom...or dad. Neither of which are runners. Or maybe that is solely my accomplishment. Genetics or could it actually be environment?
That's it for me. Off to get my eyebrows plucked..... ;D

i have the opposite problem, mine don't grow/are super sparse, you'd need a magnifying glass to see them. so i ended up having my brows tatooed in(got it done over 3 years ago). prior to getting them tatooed in, i use to pencil them in. otherwise, you wouldn't see them. i clearly get this from my mom's side(no one on my dad's side has this problem). my mom and her sisters all have theirs tatooed in as well. i remember a funny incident with one of my aunts(before she got them tatooed)...she'd applied one of her brows but randomly she had to leave the room and didn't get to do her other brow. by this point, she'd forgotten about it and ended up going thru the day with one brow ;D Earlobes- both my parents have free earlobes, mine are attached. How did this happen? I must be adopted. hehe, there are definitely some features i have that neither of my parents, nor do any of my extended family have, at least those within 2 generations anyway. some examples include my extremely flat feet and my overall body type.

But I'd be too embarrassed/weirded out to get them done, ect...

I would say typically Eurasian than just Asian or Just European.
It's interesting because my body hair color is different depending on the parts! Is there anyone like me? Like my hair is very dark, though it used to be very brown when I was a kid. Then my hair on forearm and legs are blonde/brown/black mix. And around bellybutton, it's black. When I grow beard, I see lots of red. So I have red, black, brown, blonde. 4 colors on my body, actually 5 coz I have gray hair too. I am serious.. Does anyone have colorful hair like I do? Am I the only unusual one within the unusuals?
On body shape, from looking at other Eurasian friends I have, I have noticed that if your mom is European, your bones are bigger generally than those who have Asian mothers. Probably because you come out of a bigger womb..?

well. I have a long torso, but my legs are quite short (arggg) this trait is definatly from my dad, because my mom barely even has a torso and my dads legs are even shorter than mine, and has an extremely long torso. I have small asian feet. size 5-6. obviously from my mother. I have a rather LARGE booty, which is from my grandmother on my dad's side. But the one thing I didn't get from anyone is....well....all the women in my family have....urm...rather large boobs....and well...I don't ....I'm average I would say....and both my parents have extremely toned legs (without doing anything ) ....while my are....alright....since they have to support my Booty im not surprised they're not thin. But my upperbody is quite muscular...which is from my mum...and weight training - which helped. Both my parents were basically stick thin growing up, and into their 20's.....so I dunno where I came from, I think my dad's mum because she was quite...curvy. *mumbles under breath* damn those hips. Face wise I'm exactly like my dad except for my smile...and the fact that I have freckles....freckles run in the family on my mum's side.
