The census 2000, in the US : it was 1/4 with asian father and 3/4 with asian mother. I don't know the proportion for Europe. Not sure. Any guess ?
As long as there won't be hundreds of voters for the poll, one cannot say, concerning EAN.

Halfbreed: I think EA kids from asian mom tend to look more asian (this is all my generalizing opinion). oh yes and I'm pretty sure it's not true ;D Eventhough I can think of EAs tending towards the Euro side w/ Asian dads... I also know these kind of EAs w/ Asian moms... And just in general: How would that be possible?... It's not. I'm sure none of you want to hear my ranting on genetics again, so I'll say it's a roll of the genetic dice - WM/AF and AM/WF is the same to genetics - one asian person and one white person. And I'll leave it at that. |

we have 2 asian dad/white mom couples in my family and one 1 asian mom/white dad couple. Although I seem to see more asian girl/ white guy couples these days. The split seems to be about 50/50 in general. I did a poll like this a while back and I remembered that the ratio was about 1:1. There are 2 things to consider when trying to get a tally of IR couples. First, the latest census shows that WM/AF married couples are more frequent than AM/WF couples by a ratio of about 3:2. But as we see on the streets, it seems like there are way way more WM/AF couples. That is only because a large number of these couples are just dating. I think I read somewhere a long time ago that something like close to 90% of Asian girls, close to marrying age, have dated a White male while only about 20% of Asian guys have dated a White female. So if you take that arbitrary figure into consideration, the ratio is really greater than 8:1[sometimes even close to 20:1]. So the really interesting question is then why is the marriage ratio so close when the dating ratio is so disparate? asian guys just know how to please a woman I guess... |

Hmm, well this poll at this stage (10 -9 ) In favour of white mums and asian dads is certainly starting to making people who have bitched about AF/WM couplings look like they're exaggerating...
But not everyone reads the family forum, so it will take a while to get a more accurate tally.

My best friend in year 7 who was EA, had the AM/WF parentage. There are also close friends of our families with the same combination.

Speaking for my son, his mother is asian and his father white. We live in the Houston area where there's a large filipino and vietnamese population. I also notice that asian women here date white men than vice versa. My church for example has at least ten EA families. Only one of those families has an asian father with a white mother. At least that I know of.

I work in ice creamery in a food court and I see many AM/WF families. I can only recall seeing one asian guy with a white girl, and they were on a date.

it seems to be a lot more common for white men to marry asian women than it is the other way around. with me, it was the other way around. growing up around all our asian/mixed asian family friends(and mind you, there was a large vietnamese community where i was from and had alot of exposure to), everybody who was mixed had asian dads and white/part white moms, myself included. it was only until i started surfing the internet(at about 17/18 years old) that i read about AF/WM relationships supposedly outweighing AM/WF. hmm... based on my own viet family i would guess that there are more viet men dating white women than the other way around because vietnamese culture seems much more restrictive towards women than men. again, this is only based on my own family, but it doesn't really surprise me that you know more kids with viet dads than viet moms. |

Mine was a virgin birth  Smurf's stats are interesting. One futher question to ask that may be interesting here is where people's parents first met? I'm wondering if AM/WF is more likely to be a coupling made within asia whereas WM/AF is more likley to be made in a western country? My reason for asking this is I was at a conference where a social psychologist presented data on interracial dating on the UCLA campus (University of Caucasian's Lost Among Asians right?). The data showed white males as most likley to date outside their own race, therefore they were assumed for the purposes of analysis to be the most "powerful" or "desireable" because other races were more willing to date them then other races & therefore white males had more choice (or something like that, but let's not debate that here). The data showed asian women were the minority race most likely to be "selected" by white males. Asian men on the other hand were the least likely to date outside their race. The data was presented in terms of racial stereotypes with the presenter saying that asian women have been successfully stereotyped as the "china doll" & desireable in western media whereas asian men are rarely stereotyped as "manly" by the media in western countries and more likley to be a villan or a sidekick to a white hero. Therefore asian men struggle to "achieve" white women in a western society.......but that may not be the same in an asian society where the asian male is the dominant & positive male type. BTW, my mother is Chinese and very few people pick me as having asian blood. Usually people think i'm part Samoan or polynesian! |
