Smurf's stats are interesting. One futher question to ask that may be interesting here is where people's parents first met? I'm wondering if AM/WF is more likely to be a coupling made within asia whereas WM/AF is more likley to be made in a western country? I wouldn't think so. My boyfriend is the other way around, his mom (White) and Dad (Fili) met in America, while my parents (White dad and Asian mom) met in Korea due to a military relationship. I'd think that more WM/AF would meet in Asia because of the military. I don't know if that still holds today though.

My mom is Japanese and my dad is White-American. Growing up, our family was friends with three other families with EA kids and all were the "typical" Asian mom, White dad set-up. Plus all the halfer-kids at Japanese school were the same way too. That was the norm for EA couples in the 70s in Vancouver I think. I could be wrong. ;D Or maybe it was just more common for Japanese/White couples? Who knows.

Is it just because Japanese people would come over to Canada and couldn't be hassled to go any further than the west coast? My parents lived there for a good long while too - asian-American mom and Caucasian-American father. They were there in the late 70s/early 80s too. So technically, my sister is Canadian.

I think it definitely has something to do with its proximity to Japan. My mom said she chose Vancouver, as opposed to Ottawa because she wanted to be able to visit her family in Japan. The gorgeous mountains and ocean don't hurt either. Does your sister have Canadian citizenship? Have you ever been to Vancouver? Of course I'm biased, but it's my favourite city in the world.
