I guess there is probably already a thread on this. Im sure someone will point it out if there is.
How much of your father are you like? The older I get the more I realise Ive turned into my old man, it my mannerisms, my humour, in my thinking, in my beliefs and actions. Its very strange because I catch myself and think "s***, thats exactly what he would have said". And there was never a conscious effort to end up like him, if anything Ive tried to become the opposite, but just by osmosis it seems my sub sonscious did pick up things.
We all like to think we are individuals but I do believe we turn into our parents to some extent.

I think I'm getting more ignorant and insensitive towards others' feelings the more I'm around him. And cracking stupid jokes, too.

I am the splitting image of my father so much so that I've been told I'm my father in a dress. Thanks. According to relatives, I eat, sleep, talk the way my father did when he was younger and there were many times he too has told me I'm exactly the way he was. This probably contributes to why we understand each other without really having to say much. He can be very condescending, rude, pushy, temperamental and exacting... I didn't really decide to inherit all those things but I think I did. I shouldn't be too hard - he's also creative - not the way my mother is in a refined, taught way - but his inner thoughts and the way he does things. He NEVER apologizes - just takes me out to lunch and we make fun of people sipping over po lei or ti kum yum. That's the cue. When we do disagree it's like the whole universe cracked and no one dares interfere. Otherwise we have a pretty strong relationship. He, in turn, is very like his mother. It's different when with other relatives or grandparents - I feel I'm speaking to actual different people but with them it's like having a conversation with myself... or parts of myself. Very weird but nice.

are you twins? hehe My dad and I are not so alike, but we have some things in common. He managed to project his view about education on to me, among other small things I guess. I cant say Im like my mum either, maybe even less...We have the same body type though.

I am a lot like my Dad... lookwise and more personality wise. I'm basically a half-asian, female version of him. Sometimes it drives me crazy but people always say I'm just like him...

Is he your parent who is "quadroon" 1/4 Black? Actually no - he is 1/4 American Indian. The black is on my mom's side. Bascially she looks white because she inherited her appearance from my German grandfather and her creole mother looked like a pale Lena Horne. (BTW Octoroon has two definitions: either strictly 1/8 black or a person who passes as white but is of black descent, similar to passe blanc. much like mulatto can mean 50/50 or a person of mixed white/black lineage.)
