Most don't make it. Sure there are a few who do, but just by statistics, how many do well out of the thousands that try?
If you want to put in energy into something, invest in an education or skilled profession, then invest right, build a business. But these model, sports star etc dreams mostly fail, with only the few who make it shinning brightly.

When I was studying Chinese in China straight out of school, I was asked if I was interested in doing a TV show. It wasn't quite acting mind you, I had to host this show and act on all these role plays with the point of teaching common English phrases. I thought it'd be fun and hopped on. To be honest it was kind of fun for a while, except for the fact that when I turned up to the studio, the woman who had 'recruited' me had failed to mention I was Aussie. When they heard me speak they were very worried that I was difficult to understand and that they preferred American English. Against all my convictions I agreed to use an American accent on the show. This accent actually crept into bits of my lexicon outside the show at times ... Anyway, I did the show for 6 months and it was aired pretty much 4 weeks behind our filming, once a week. I don't think it did brilliantly, but a few of the foreign students at uni managed to point out to me that they'd seen me on the telly. Then in my second year there, I received a phone call from the station that they had re-run the first season of the show and it had taken off. They wanted to film a second season with better pay and all that jazz. Looking at the dates, I had planned to return to Australia before the season ended and turned them down. I don't really have a taste for it to be honest. It was interesting to be recognised on occasion outside though! In a good way when I was stopped by the ladies, in a bad way when I was stopped by 65 year old men in the gym To be honest, I think I was bloody awful! I stopped visiting the editing room very quickly

Next thing you know, everyone will skim down your post history, spot that pic in the prom thread and then start stalking you like the fetishists and the HK dudes. unsolicited assholic suggestion: if u really want to avoid attention, delete the pics and don't lead ppl on
and if you want me to delete this post, just let me know.

funny this thread came up. i got a call from an agent asking me to get my bf to go in for a casting yesterday (i'm his agent!!). its for a mobile phone commercial that will be shown in 8 asian countries. so he shot a demo thing for it and we'll here back sometime this week.
i need to research into the $$ aspect tho, cos the expected price they quoted seemed a bit low.
i was checking out the model profiles and most of the EA/white girls seem to be at least 5'9 tall, but chinese girls are around 5'4.

Was interested in acting during VCE and did drama in those years, was a lot of fun but I began to lose interest after finishing Year 12. I think many have aspired to be actors/actresses/models/singers etc. one time in their life.

Not at all. Director or producer perhaps.

I've been thinking about learning how to act. I want to broaden my horizons as an entertainer, and I think that having a better understanding of an actor's psychology would improve my abilities as a screenwritier. I don't really have the time or fundage to seek out lessons, though. I've been thinking of taping myself copying performances that I like, reviewing them, and redoing them until I'm satisfied.

It occurred to me that acting is a skill I really should learn. So much of life is putting on an act and acting also seems like a good way to unwind and meet some people. I have no idea where to start though. There are college courses I could take but I don't need them and there is no way in hell I'd let something like that ruin my almost flawless GPA. I got a bunch of books on acting from the library but I haven't really been able to relate to them...

A couple of my ex's did the part-time modelling thing, one was a face model because she was too short for other work, the other was an underwear model. It seemed like an interesting way to supplement the incomes they had from their full time jobs. I've never really gone for girls that are full time models. There's something about their personalities, at least the ones I've met that is. Didn't really like the scene either. I used to occasionally get called in for covers gigs for a function in my hometown called "media, models, music", an invite only affair for the "pretty people" of my city. It was wall to wall models and losers wearing pink shirts. It was ridiculously pretentious and fake. Why anyone would want to be a part of that scene is beyond me. There was one chick that chased me for a few weeks after one gig. She was a Pamela Anderson clone (including fake tits) and if I had have dated her I could've appeared with her on NZ's version of "celebrity treasure island". ooooo! ooooo! please!
