Figured it was about time we had a concert thread. Mostly I just wanted to post some cool pictures I took at Daft Punk last night, but I know there are other people here who like to go to a lot of concerts, too (too bad Baus just deleted her account). So post your reviews and/or pictures and talk about concerts that are coming up or ones that you've seen in the past. Now back to Daft Punk... If you ever get a chance to see Daft Punk DO IT!!! It'worth it for the light show, alone. And of course you will dance your ass off if you are so inclined. I can confidently say that it was very likely the coolest thing I will ever see in my lifetime. They dress up as robots and they're in a big pyramid with a crazy light show. I don't know how you top that. I'm pretty much obsessed with Daft Punk after last night's show. Freaking amazing!! I'm a bit annoyed that I didn't see Kavinsky and Sebastian spin, but they did it in the middle of the venue (which is massive) and by that point we were already pretty close to the stage. At any rate they did a good job of warming up the crowd before Daft Punk. Pictures! But the coolest part had to be when they came out for their encores... (not my picture, my stupid memory card filled up before the pyramid started doing the really cool s*** )

Nice, looks like we all have similar taste in music. I saw Interpol for the fourth or fifth time when the Virgin Festival hit Toronto in August. Also got to finally see Bjork (amazing), M.I.A. (good energy but weird to see her perform in the middle of the afternoon), Smashing Pumpkins (sadly they just don't have the same effect on me as they did back in high school) and a few other bands that I clearly don't care enough about to recall right now. Got to see M.I.A. again quite recently but apparently she was very hung over from having performed the previous two nights in NYC so it was a bit of a disappointment. The sound was pretty messed up for the first few songs, as well. But still, I managed to enjoy myself and work up a sweat on the dance floor. D.A., out of the gigs you want to get tickets for, personally I'd opt for the last two myself. I've always wanted to see Thievery Corporation, and Arcade Fire always put on an amazing show. Very energetic - at the appropriate times, of course.

V Festival puts on great shows, they get awesome acts. I actually prefer day festivals... so seeing things in the afternoon to sundown is usual in Australia. We have so many of them also
I've been waiting to see Arcade Fire for a while now. Especially the eccentric 'Napoleon Dynamite' looking accordion player...
New Young Pony Club's singer is also very energetic, saw them at this years V-Fest. Good festival music... I reckon the Battles would be awesome to watch, experimental prog rock.

Haven't heard much about New Young Pony Club, will have to check them out. Also got a chance to see Battles open for Prefuse 73 a few years ago. Can't say I know much about them, unfortunale but my friend's bf who is a total music nerd was really excited to see them (and Beans) perform.

Cool thread. If anyone has a chance to see him perform live in the Philippines (mostly in the Metro Manila region), I highly recommend going out to see guitarist Noli Aurillo. He plays mainly Jazz, Blues, and Classic Rock. Covers/transcribes others' works but also performs his own compositions. The guy is an absolutely amazing guitarist. Sorry no photos right now. He had a gig at Route 196 in the Q.C. a few weeks ago. Maybe they'll post photos soon.

You beauty! I didn't know they were coming down. I'll want to see the side show for sure. If you hear anything about ticket sales let me know, and I you! Kings of Leon too- Damn, I'm giving back to the music industry this summer!
I've added another gig to my list, I now have tickets to
Muse - Nov 17 Sufjan Stevens - Jan 14 Interpol - Feb 21
Yes, that's right, 4th row seats at the state theatre for Sufjan Stevens. To say I am excited would be quite the understatement.
And of course the possibles are now: Arcade Fire Kings of Leon
Good stuff

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Excuse the French, but Oh My F*&^king GOd!!! I've just been to the two most awesome concerts ever! Linkin Park --- Saturday 20th October @ Sydney Entertainment Centre<<< I MET CHESTER AND JOE! Chris Cornell --- Wednesday 24th October @ Enmore Theatre <<<AND GOT TO MEET HIM! Fans were hangin around for hours before the show began. I got there early too. Man, I was pumped! I got general admission (MOSHPIT!) tickets to LP and nearly suffocated, but hell I was having a great time! People were all squished together. I've never been in such close proximity to a great body mass in my life... but fun as. I met Chester (lead screamer) and Joe Hahn (DJ) during soundcheck. Then on Wednesday... Chris Cornell...... ohmygod . ohmygod. ohmygod. ohmygod. ohmygod. ohmygod. He was fantastic! Played all his greatest hits from Soundgarden, Audioslave and some solo stuff. See the playlist: When he came onstage, both him and the audience were SCREAMING! He is PASSIONATE! Still got that killer voice of his... full of soul and intensity. I caught a guitar pick from that Yogi guy (on the left). They all took their shirts off too. My review: Chris Cornell is has an equally beautiful voice as he has looks. And personality. Got to go backstage too! We got to shake hands and everything, nice guy. Told him how special he and his music he are to me.... man, fancy meeting your all-time hero! See my signature guys, it's Chris' solo CD "Carry On". He signed his name and addressed it personally to me!! ;D ;D ;D My schoolmates said his signature kinda looks like a squashed butterfly... yeah it's squiggly but he must be so used to always autographing stuff that he got lazy.;D

Words will not describe my stokedness right now, but I just obtained a ticket to Bjork on Jan 23. I'm not even going to try and convey what I think about it.
And my summer gig list grows.
Muse - Nov 17 Sufjan Stevens - Jan 14 Bjork - Jan 23 Interpol - Feb 21

Lucky is an understatement, it was impossible to get tickets! It is going to be on the Opera House forecourt, right on Sydney harbour. I got these through a little chain of contacts leading to someone working on the show. Seems so far away now!
