Thanks Solaris, although being 22 does give a person the feeling that their youth is slowly slipping away.

Seems like a technique for people without the willpower to correct their excessive intake of food. I've seen all the stuff about how gastric bypass surgery is a life saving technique, but hello? Unless there's some medical condition/disability preventing one from working out, they shouldn't be that fat in the first place. Hell, why am I even saying that, proper eating and diet alone should be enough to prevent obesity levels requiring gastric bypass (my momjust eats healthy and hasn't worked out for a couple of years and has maybe fluctuated 5-6 lbs). Typical average American ego and not taking responsibility, I just hear too many excuses blaming this and that, but not themselves. My favorite is calling something a "disease" or "syndrome". Thus, you become a victim of a disease, absolving yourself of any responsibility. And suing fast food companies? wtf? As far as a significant other gaining weight, I'd urge her to lose the weight but stay by her and help her. But if she were getting morbidly obese, despite my urgings and willingness to assist her lose the weight...well... To give you an idea of what I find attractive, I kind of dig Kate Winslet body types (even at her chunkiest) on down. I think chest-waist-hip proportions are important, not so much the absolute size. If you're gaining weight that throws those proportions out of whack, then you start losing your attractiveness [to me].

Well, if the Eurasian chick in question is living in an environment where chubbiness is uncommon, such as South East Asia or the Pacific, yet is a bit chubby and apparently gaining some baggage in the bootay. It's a signal for this Guru to say bonvoyage, even more so if there's some other unappealing qualities.
It's a definite *bye bye* if the chick isn't thick, yet has a huge/wide narsty ghetto booty! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! The HORRORS of last July '03 before my trip to Penang!!! By far one of the nastiest hapa bootays I've ever seen.

my preferences...medium-built and nicely cut..but i do give leeway i've dated a guy before who i wouldn't necessarily say is fat, but was kinda borderline chubby. but he seemed like a nice guy at first so...i've never been a fan of the overmuscular bodybuilder types with veins popping out (stuff that one would usually see on the covers of muscle magazines)..as said before, there are ppl/guys who make the effort to keep their bodyfat at a minimal-moderate level, and that's cool in my book..but i would be sort of phased if he was originally a decent size and just allowed himself to get horribly out of shape simply because he was a lazy bum...as exhausted as i can be sometimes, i still make an effort to work out regularly to stay in decent shape, and i'd like it if my man were to do the same..so ya, he doesn't have to necessarily fall within my preferences..but it would be nice

yeah, right on! Why always talk about girls here? It's not like guys don't need to be attractive ... One of the guys I was w/ was a bit chubby, I didn't really like it but that things didn't work out between was due to other factors. He even did modern sport karate (how I hate these Westernized "martial arts" :X) and was still chubby. So of course I prefer athletic guys but in the end I would also hook up w/ someone who isn't or who's a bit chubby. The last guy I was w/ wasn't really chubby but he told me how he only ate pizza during exam times and he wasn't really trim. Yet, I found his slightly chubby sides very cute , I liked to touch'em. --- As to the inital question. Some ppl have already said so. Becoming fat is a question of discipline and even self-esteem I'd say. I realized I have a distinct preference for guys who are perfectionists (eventhough it can annoy me so much). So when I imagine myself w/ a guy who becomes fat I think the reason for it must be psychological, e.g. totally losing hope in one area of life, so I would try to figure out what his problem is and help him get over this kind of state as to make him regain his ambition/discipline and self-esteem. Totally losing hope in one area of life?...? Welcome to TEXAS!!! But seriously, lots of studying + not many girls I dig + not much time to party = not much reason to keep in shape... add that to the Texan diet = chubby Guru of Hapas.

Guys if you are over 10% body fat then that is just f**ked up. Join the military and get your ass shipped to a combat zone. You should look like this Girls if you are over 17% body fat then you need to hit the gym. If you can feel your stomach and not feel muscle, you are too fat. If you your butt is not semi muscular, you are too fat. I won't tolerate a fat S/O.

The skinny fat girls are the worst. A skinny arm that is mostly fat is just as nasty as a fat arm period. Girls in general should lift more weights, more muscle tone instead of a thin stick of fat.

so would you prefer a skinny, bag of bones...or a chubby person? I think skinny skin over bones type people are just as displeasing to the eye as fat celulite infested people.
