Oooh - just found this site www.harlotte.com.au for old school, natural sexy make up! Now the question is, what will suit me? What kind of tips can you girls give me? Being Eurasian obviously means we're not quite light or dark skinned. I'm sure it's been talked about before, but lets revive it. Can anyone recommend good colours for Eurasian skin, both foundation and eyes/lips-wise? I personally have yellow undertones to a light olive complexion and find it really hard to match my colour perfectly

hey ALisa-i'm yellow-olive too,and i think we're fairly close in shade as well ir i remember.Bare Escentuals bare minerals has a good selection,i use medium or medium-tan when i'm paler and tan when i'm darker.the medium is a hair too pink but not enough to be noticeable and the next paler truly yellow bse is way too pale for me. for drugstore foundation i just started using Maybelline Pure Makeup in medium 3 (medium beige),which is a little too dark, but at least had the right undertone.most beiges usually have a pink base but this one is yellow. there was a neutrogena foundation i used to use ,i think it was the skin-clearing one,in honey beige.i switched because i didn't like the formula.on that one, beware, the shades all look off in the bottle.
hope that helps!
having brown eyes we can wear any color, but i'm partial to purples, mossy greens, turquoise, golds (not yellow golds),and sables.i don't like warm colors on myself (other than maybe copper) but that's just me. lips can be a bitch with all the yellow.i'm not a huge lipstick/gloss fan anyway.the only lipstick i own that i ever really wear is Ashwairya's Beige from Revlon,it's a pretty nude.

Thanks for all that! I agree about the lipstick. It rarely looks good on me. I either have to go completely nude or bright, blood red, which is a little loud for me! Juniper - if you had to choose a nude lippy colour from this site then, www.harlotte.com.au, which colour would you choose?

hmm...i'd go with Striptease or Topless for the brown nudes.i don't think any of the pink ones would really come up nude on me,so i'm going on that .Nudes are a bitch.to me those might seem a little to colorful to be called nudes, but i've found from experience that without it it makes me look dead.we just can't wear sandy beiges like white girls. cute site, btw.
makeup is my crack.

^ Omg I totally agree with you on that one. Sandy beige makes me look sickly as do other light beige colors. It's weird since I am pale...well then again, not really since pale is kinda already a "dead tone" lol. I just can't really go nude with my lips or else I look really dead or "gyaru". Bright colors make me look alive and dark colors make me look too goth, which isn't the look I am going for.
Too-dark eyeshadows (like a solid black on the whole eyelid) makes me look like a zombie. So I love lighter, neutral browns.
Any tips on how to make a big head, short neck look smaller/ neck longer? What hairstyles? I hate my big-ass head and my short neck! :X Makes me look disproportioned since I have very little body fat in most areas and is small-boned. =(

ha,we sold those at a natural foods store where i worked.i know i'm a weirdo, but i wouldn't be averse to them.it'd save a lot of money and waste, and you can always wash your hands. never actually used them though. I was actually getting kinda interested in it and was thinking about buying them as a practical gag gift for a friend until I realized the kits cost $80 and one pad costs like $15. I know they're reusable, but that's a little too much. It sounds like too much work to clean em. And some of the other stuff on the site was just ridiculous. Sea sponge tampons, okay. But the rubber menstrual CUP? Seriously? You know, I thought the same thing. But after having used the diva cup for 3 months (soon to be 4) I can finally say I'm happy I made the switch from tampons. After a few days of use tampons usually left me feeling sore (I used pads at night). I also didn't like the (albeit slight) change in my personal smell. I even started using unscented tampons to no avail.. I'll admit I had a hard time with the cup the first period I used it through. I never could "load" it right and almost lost it in the void a couple times. lol And godforeffingbid you need to change it in a public bathroom. yeah. ew. www.amazon.com/Diva-Cup-Model-1-Pre-Childbirth/dp/B000FAG6X0?tag=particculturf-20www.divacup.com/In closing, I love this thing. It fills the void. (ha ;D)

I just watched a vijeo on it. Looks intriguing. Maybe I'll give it a go. What do you do when you need to empty it in a public bathroom? I mean I heard that you should wash it out, but I can't imagine anyone wanting to do it in a public bathroom... do you just try and avoid public bathrooms on your period? I realise those questions could put you in an uncomfortable position, you don't need to answer them if you don't want... I am just genuinely curious about the cup and public situations.

From your avatar (if that is you) you look well proportioned and very beautiful.

I realise those questions could put you in an uncomfortable position, you don't need to answer them if you don't want... I am just genuinely curious about the cup and public situations. No problem. Ah, I should've warned that my first description was going to be graphic. So sorry. This one will be too. You can actually keep it in up to 12 hours (varies depending on flow). The first time I started using it I checked on it all the time because I was worried about it not being set right and leaking. One of those times happened to be after seeing (how fitting) a horror movie at the theater.. After I poured it out I freaked because the erm.. mass streaked the bottom of the toilet and took a few flushings to clear out (tip: pour onto toilet paper to prevent this). I wrapped it up and took it to the sink furthest from the door. I like going to matinee showings so it didn't take long before I was alone. I then quickly unwrapped and cleaned it out. So it wasn't bad at all. Well, a lady did walk in on me madly scrubbing the sink with soap and tissues. I did have to put up with "did you fall in?" jokes when I came out but thankfully guys don't want to know too much about what us girls do in restrooms. ;D A review on amazon is recommending reading up using this site: www.menstrualcups.orgAnd this for size comparisons w/other cups on the market: community.livejournal.com/menstrual_cups/1285963.htmlMakes since we are shaped differently. I was lucky, I guess. Even though I've had a cesarean I've had no problem using the smaller sized Diva cup. Just make sure your walls stay strong. Kegels, everyone.

^ Whao. I looked at those cup thingies before and saw the video. Lol the comments on youtube were mostly against the cup I would say. I just don't know how I would change it in a public bathroom. I am very clumsy and it will gross me (as well as the rest of those unlucky beautiful souls) in the bathroom out. I couldn't even jam a tampon in there. Haha. I don't think a cup would fit... I will have to be *cough cough* "in the mood" for something to fit there. Oh jeez I have spoken too much. x) Slaps myself in the face** And thanks, Robyn. But I deny that I am beautiful. That is one of the few photos of me that turned out looking fine. Surprisingly. The ratio of good to bad photos is...no contest. Bad overrides good ten-fold. I think you are very beautiful for sure. I browsed some of your fotos and your baby fotos too lol and you're sooooo effin' cute! Me jealous. x)

The DivaCup is awesome!! You don't even feel like you're on your period when you use it. Takes a bit to get to used to it (I'd say one to two cycles) but once you do it's a cinch. Oh, and they hold a full ounce so you can easily avoid emptying them in public bathrooms and just wait until you get home. Because it's reusable you save a ton of money, and it's better for the environment. Really no downside that I can see.

I would like to try the DivaCup to save money, but honestly that thing still scares me. How do you go jogging with that thing inside you? lol

If a moisturizer says it is oil-free, does that mean it is water-based?

generally.there's usually glycerine involved instead of an oil-based moisturizer.

Is there actually a difference between different branded flat irons/hair straighteners or is it just a gimmick that some have apparently "ionic" or "tourmaline" features? Any experiences with high-end hair straighteners such as Sedu, ghd, Chi, Solia, etc.? How does it compare to other cheaper branded flat irons that you have used such as Conair, Revlon, or non-branded/almost unknown branded flat irons? Thanks!
