ok. I am sure that this was a topic once upon a time so don't hate me. I just wanted to share that I had a dacryocystorhinostomy done recently(about a week ago). basically I had a blockage(in this case scarred tissue) in my lacrimal system(tear duct). ANYwho, before all this bizznazz, I had a very bad infection in my tear duct & thought I had sinusitus (DANG)..but I am healing up pretty nice now!!! anyways, this was my first surgery ever (anesthesia and all of that good stuff). This is me BUSTED looking in the hospital after i woke up..LOL had the stitches taken out yesterday and will have the stent (which is located inside my tear duct--it hurts my cornea if I look all the way to the left) stay put for at least 8 weeks. okay. now it's your turn!!!

I'm very selfish in this matter.
I have given many.....but have yet to receive.
My first experience with minor surgery will be as soon as CJ's sibling is born.
When that happens, I shall join the ranks of those that shoot blanks.

Ouch your poor eye I have had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled, that was AWFUL! I had to be put under and that was the best sleep ever. C-section, horrible, horrible I really don't know why women are wanting a c-section then a vag birth. I was in pain for a long time and could not even care for my baby and had to rely on others to Ankle surgery from to much scar tissue, knee as well for to many hard impacts I won't go into huge detail. Hmmm.... I think that is about it, well there was the time my whole forehead skin was ripped off but they didn't do any skin graphs or anything.

Yeah, I thought maybe that would end up in the TMI file, but I'm honest to a fault.
I'm done after 2.
No question about it.
My contribution to the EA nation ends at 2.

My husband is the same as well, after #2 done, it will be great because birth control pills make me very ill and well condoms just plain suck.

I went to one of the best, I hate the dentist so there is no way I would go to just anybody. I have a very small mouth and my wisdom teeth were impacted and growing side ways so it wasn't a rotinue procedure, he had to cut them into four pieces before he could even remove them which means more ouch factor. Plus if you are put under they are more rough with ya'. My cheeks were a nice shade of blue the next day, the pain killers made me sick, they were to strong so I just took advil. I was fine after a week then the rancid taste started to set in, that was so gross I ate Altoids like mad.

Are vasectomies common? I never really thought about it. I'd think it would be a bit young to get one done in your 30's as many women are now conceiving more and more around that age... but I guess people know what they want? If a person is done having children nothing gives one peace of mind for the future like sterilization.

^ I can't bear the thought . Obviously other considerations will come into play one day... some women are just as adverse to condoms as men and as Lady said, birth control can be pretty crap aswell. But till then, I'm not even going to think about it. It's just about the most violating, invasive thing I can imagine happening to me. Just as I would never request that a woman get her tubes tied. Obviously my feelings don't really solve the problem at hand... but I'll come to it when I get there. As for surgeries, only a tonsilectomy when I was 10. I broke my nose when I was 15 and was supposed to get it reset, but I decided to live with my deviated septum.

Dude, you make it sound like you are getting a castration. All they do is cut two little tubes so that the sperm cells no longer release into the fluid ( which they contribute a very tiny percentage of). Everything else as far as your experience and performance stays identical. Except your paranoia afterwards

Just as I would never request that a woman get her tubes tied. The woman who gave birth to me convinced her husband to get a vasectomy when she was 42. She was afraid of getting pregnant. It's their lives but I thought that was selfish. She was "old" and by a miracle maybe fertile for 5 more years. This guy has never had his own biological kid and he did this for that woman. He wanted to have a kid with that woman but he did it because he loves her. Imagine if they divorce or if he's widowed, he won't have that chance to have kids. Yeah you can reverse the surgery but it really lowers your chances of being a pop. Anyway you don't know all the details of that woman but he's too good for her and she often treats him like crap. In turn he treats her like a queen. My father had a vasectomy and then a reverse vasectomy. Now his new wife is preg. Poor girl.
