I find western desserts incredibly generic, and a tad too heavy on the butter. Unless we're talking about flaming baked alaskas and tiramisu gelatos with shaved chocs enough to tantalize the most critical chocolatiers. Then again to each their own. There's not much I would consider 'comfort food' in the western world. Often interesting, none preferred.
Perhaps it's also a case of finding western foods or confectionaries relatively easily from where I'm from in Asia. Right now in the west, it takes some doing scouting out good places for asian desserts. Compounded with the comfort/familiarity factor, enjoyment and appreciation triples. Synergy.
Today I was heartily disappointed with the dessert at a YUVA formal but food and appetizers (they kept coming!) made up for it. All good. Ate too much, danced too much and I think all of it got stuck in my neck.

So, Green tea ice cream IN a green tea bubble tea? I dunno. The idea of those little tapioca balls getting all icy and hard doesn't sound so yummy. I'm a purist. I think I'll take each separately.

^ Green Tea Icecream......as weird as it seems, it tastes awefully delicious. All my Aussie friends think I'm a nutter for liking that "wasabi flavoured icecream" lol

yeah i like the 3 colour drink aswell and pick out the redbeans b4 it's consumed. also like ice kachang aswell and the deep fired icecream.
once i ordered the deep fried icecream at dragonboat and the waiter brought it to the table and what they do is the set it alight and then they pour like an orange liquor syrup ontop of it to extinguish the flame. well after the guy lit it, he asked me whether or not i wanted him to pour the syrup on. and i thought to myself, well...i'm not gonna dig into a flaming ball of icecream am i !?!?!?!? LOL.

^HAHA bet that freeked the sh!t outta ya xD
But the 3 bean drinks aren't good everywhere... Sometimes they just taste like likerish... Disgusting...
Anyways I just found out there was a 7 colored beans version ! The weird thing is that all the beans have really diffrent flavors of sweet so it's like a huge party in your mouth... Soooo cool!

I don't know where to put this (is there an Asian Food thread?). But I'm really craving Kaya on bread right now. Oh god what I'd do for some Kaya and bread and milo. That seductive puke green jar....
