Ever read kostova's The historian? It's well-written even if the topic is trite.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the great Eurasian author Han Suyin.
Her book, 'A Many Splendoured Thing', is something to behold, and a must for anyone with a Honk Kong connection, Belgian or Chinese blood, or an interest post-war (post-PRC liberation) colonial Hong Kong. What a story. It's a kind of fictionalised autobiography.
It was made into a very successful Holloywood movie, a couple of years before Susie Wong. It was a called 'Love is a Many Splendoured Thing.'
Interestingly, it was also turned into a TV series in the 60s/70s, in which the daughter of the main character from the movie becomes the chief protagonist. This only lasted one episode as the Eurasian chief protagonist was deemed too controversial for the 1970s U.S. audience. She didn't re-appear for the 2nd episode, and the story continued with minor characters developing main roles overnight.
Anyway, please check out the book. Han Suyin is a little known Eurasian role-model from a time when she almost single-handedly held the banner for us.
