do you listen to music from the cultures you come from?
I rarely listen to vietnamese music. I sometimes listen to japanese, french, and misc music.
...Although I am biased since I don't understand vietnamese.

hmm tibetan music.. err theres really not much. traditional music is so so, really depends on the genre. like theres sth called 'naghma' and its traditional high tilting singing with pitched voices, echo like, in the mountains. thats ok and sometimes very nice. but rather horrible for people who are listening to it 4 the first time lol.
but the buddha bar chill out mixes etc are usually really nice.
theres a online radio station on some website and it plays 'tibpop' lol. from india. very funny and again so so.
depends, really.

I hardly listen to canto-pop anymore, got over my phase for it. - not good since a lot of my friends like to go to karoke.. There are some singers that I like though.
As for English music.. Brit-pop / indie stuff is so-so, not what I'd usually listen to, but some of it is ok.

Gagaku / traditional Japanese music / instruments interests me in that it's so entirely different in sounds / scales / form etc. from the western music that I've been exposed to. If I had a chance I'd like to somehow get involved with that. I'm taking a Celtic music course right now and, at the risk of sounding like a dork, I'm being exposed to some really, really awesome impressive music. There's much, much more to it than new-agey Enya, Riverdance, bagpipes and tin whistles. The traditional Irish music scene is so tiny - everyone knows each other. It's kind of neat. From the ones that I've met, Irish musicians also have a kick ass sense of humor. So yeah. I'm definitely starting to, but normally I'm listening to other things...

i love traditional Samoan music-the war chants send chills up your spine.modern Samoan pop is ok,though very religious.still,i listen to as much as i can to try and learn more of the language.i like traditional Polynesian music in general.i really know nothing about Canto music;at some point i might remedy that.as for German music,i know a few folk songs and have heard a few from Rammstein, that's about it.

I did listen to MC Solaar for a while, cause I thought he’d be able to teach me French (failed). My nan loved Edith Piaf (hence the sig). I tried to force myself to listen to C-pop and found it cheesy & nauseating. The MV’s just further emphasized this. I suppose the classical/traditional stuff is a lot better.
