yeah from Macau? it was technically Portugal's property until China got it back.
They probably have the most concetrated population of Portuguese-Chinese in the world in one confined area. They can speak Portuguese and Chinese dialects mostly Cantonese/Mandarin...and usually have creoles of their own.
Hmm...how long has your mother's family lived in Malaysia for?

uh oh i see the beginnings of a history lesson during the world war penang and melaka were used as the main harbours for trading etc etc my mom's family... i dunno how long they have been in malaysia.. i really don't.. during the world war malaysia was first invaded by the dutch and then along came the portugese who kicked them out and took over malaysia... there were alot of ea's during that time period due to.. hmm unwanted pregnancies and etc my grandma (mothers side) has photo albums full of portugese family and chinese... so i'm not sure how long my mom's family has been in malaysia but my dad's family has been here... for a long long time.. before.. world war 1.. i think well long enough to have whole areas names after his family those areas are in penang along gurney drive...

my math teacher from grade 12...was malaysian eurasian. her father is chinese-malaysian...her mother....dutch-australian. no idea if her mother has history with malaysia being dutch...her parents could have been dutch expats... but she adopted her husbands surname which is apparently the name of some a malaysian king. anyhoo...i thought it was an anglo surname but its actually a malay surname. lol. random random. actually after hearing your voice is the voices of EAN thread tellie....my math teacher sounded alot like you. she was raised in malaysia...but moved to australia to study in high school. her accent was quite...unheard of to me and she sounded like you. thats a compliment btw...she was a nice teacher ones that made my senior year that much easier for me.
