I first saw this in Vietnam and then yesterday they had some philipino girls on some weird channel eating these. It's duck eggs with almost a fully formed foetus inside. So I know it's done in Vietnam and the Philipines. Does anyone know if any other countries do this? I thought I was pretty good at most stuff having eaten insects and pig organ soup before...but this is enough for me to go vegetarian...

YES!!! I actually eat that all the time (well, whenever I get the chance to). Filipinos call it "Balut." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BalutI guess I understand why people think it's gross. But the only thing gross about it is the way it looks. The taste is something like a combination of chicken and egg (not surprising because it's a chick).

I ate pig organ soup when I lived in Singapore. Didn't like it. I'm not sure of the vietnamese version, but for my birthday this year my family and I went to a Vietnamese resturaunt where they ordered pig organs which were dry and cut into circular pieces. They then proceeded to tease the sh*t outa me as I didn't want to go near it....haha...I rather my pho any day!

Yah my dad says its good. I'll try it when I go to the Philippines and report back.
I used to get these salty eggs at the Filipino grocery before it closed down. They are colored pink/purple on the outside. Yummy.
