At a party I went to recently there ended up being seven EAs. It was strange - first time for me. Four of us sat down and started chatting about the whole EA thing - there was that immediate sort of recognition and 'bond,' if you will. Meanwhile this white dude next to me leans over and starts butting into the conversation. His only contributions are along the lines of 'HOW UBER HOT THAT HALF-JAPANESE CHICK FROM SMALLVILLE IS.' Yes, I know she's not half-Japanese. The two guys I was chatting with raked this guy over the coals. It was hilarious but he kept coming back for more - completely not 'getting' it. I have little doubt he will find his way onto EAN at some point in the future. yep, the old "uber-hot half-japanese Smallville girl ". Or whatever she is - you people are so sensitive. LOL

I saw a EA chick at the golf range today.
Anyways didn't say anything because if I did, I'd freak her out, or I'll freak ME out, as it always happens. Also, she reminded me of someone else; scary.

He's a white heterosexual (probably middle class) male, so everyone must be just dying to hear what his views on everything are!!! Please validate us, white boy!!

Nuts and gum, together at last! This very much relates back to the "Compliments on your "Mixed-ness" good or bad?" thread.

Exactly. I try to focus on intent since I believe most people don't realize the implications of what they're saying and truly mean it as a compliment or just because they can't think of anything else to say, but it can still get very irritating. Nikki's situation was pretty blatant though, and sounded super annoying. Good intentions or not, a lot of people will never really get it even if you try to break it down for them.

I even doubt the "good intentions" in that case. the intent seems to have been to utilize other's need for approval in order to get in their good graces, and be liked, as opposed to just making others feel good about themselves...
I may read too much into it, but... likely not.

I think he also just couldn't accept that he was being discluded from the conversation since he (clearly) had nothing to add to it, beyond superficial validation that they were not asking for.
