i long hesitated about starting this thread cause i suspect its lifespan will be short, but oh well, ladies and gents of EAN, may i present you with the[glow=pink,2,300] ARTS AND CRAFTS [/glow]thread ! basically, all you do in here is post things you ve made, pottery, origamis, tableclothes, kanzashi, (bead) jewelry, furniture, candles and other stuff.... i know i make a lot of these and would love to see other people s work, especially since my skills are sometimes borderline, mediocre, or non existant in some of these crafts...so why not post tips as well ?
;D

I'll post some pics later of different parts of my house, almost everything is either directly or indirectly a project my mom uses to help her stay sane (like she hasn't passed line years ago). Also not sure what exactly is considered to be arts and crafts vs. project or whatnot, but w/e later tonight when I'm starving and bored (thanks Yom Kippur!) I'll post pics.

I don't know why arts and craft gets such a bad rap... I've made my share of items... even origami cranes! I'll post photos when I finish moving.

cool thread marie . i've posted these craft pics in an arts thread a long while back, but what the hell, a few of my many needlework pieces... i didn't do this one myself. but a friend of mine some years ago, who happened to be into origami/paper art, made this for me for my birthday

^oh, tips : if you want to make those little folds in the petal you can use a pyrography iron ... if you re into making crafty stuff, then i suggest you own one....it comes in very handy and as you can tell, you don t just use it for pyrography... you can also use it as a soldering iron if you work with wax !

Marie,i think those little 'lucky stars' look charming made out of the iridescent paper and heaped in the vase.but i've never seen them before,so maybe they're old news to everyone else. i enjoy crafting, too, but i never take pictures of anything i do...i like embroidery and making sugar flowers,in particular.i'm addicted to the DIY network.

^you make sugar flowers ? you HAVE to post a pic of at least one flower you ve made !!!!!!! i ve been browsing this cake decoration website eversince i saw the GORGEOUS sugar flowers one of my Japanese "uncles" made !!! He opened a "patisserie" in Tokyo and is quite well known for his not only delicious but awesomely decorated cakes ! i ve always wanted to make those someday ! it s like 2 passions combined !!! food and art ! ;D aesthetics for the eyes and tastebuds ! did you take some kind of class to learn to make those ? how do you make the sort of sugar-gum paste ? and sorry to sound ignorant but does it work like plasticine ? edit : on a related topic, i ve once made sugar frosted flowers with eggs, sugar, and flowers.... if i ever make some sometime soon i ll post a pic
