Youse are just jealous we have our own thread in the culture forum. ;D I was surprised to learn that no one has made an "American thread" in EAN's 3 yearsThis is the thread for everything that has to do with the USA! Post anything American. First question, what did you do for Martin Luther King Jr. Day today? Oh, and what states have you guys been to? (There's 50 of them ). I've been to: 1. California 2. Hawaii 3. New York 4. New Jersey 5. Colorado 6. Illinois (Well Colorado and Illinois don't really count because they were just airport stopovers ).

I've only been to two states in the U.S. when I was 13. Usual Disneyland, blah blah blah stuff.
California and Nevada.
Would like to go back again one day.

This MLK holiday I got to go to work at school. AND stay late to voluntarily teach night school out of the kindness of my very own cold, black, little heart. I'm sure MLK would have had something to say about that. States I've set a toenail in that matter: New York. That's it. Ok let's see, for one reason or another: - New Jersey - Maryland - Utah - Nevada - Indiana - Delaware - Connecticut - Virgina - West Virgina (which is actually SO different from regular ol' Virgina) - Here, the heavily accented farmers who sit on their porches, rifles cocked, will occasionally angrily wave their confederate flags at you as you pass. Oh, and people start incorrectly calling soda "pop." *shudder* - North Carolina - birth place of Stephen Colbert is worth a visit. - Minnesota - Go Timberwolves. - Texas - Illinois - Vermont - Skiing! - New Hampshire - Kentucky (a very strange state.) - Maine - Massachusetts - Pennsylvania - Rhode Island Missing a good junk of good 'ol Jesus Land.

Geez, I forgot it was MLK, Jr. birthday yesterday. Just worked and helped a friend with homework.
States I have been to -- quite a few (in approximate chronological order) Washington, DC (technically not a state) Maryland Virginia North Carolina South Carolina Georgia Alabama Delaware Pennsylvania New Jersey New York Florida Tennessee Connecticut Massachusetts Rhode Island New Hampshire California Hawaii Washington State Vermont Texas Ohio Indiana Illinois Missouri Kansas Colorado Utah Nevada Maine
Airline trasit - Kentucky, Alaska, Minnesota,
Weirdest state -- UTAH --> I cannot figure out where a place like that could have been invented.

I'm not very well traveled in the US, especially having lived there (otherwise, right on the border) and with a gazillion relatives scattered about.
only states i've been to - Alaska - Washington - Oregon - California - Idaho - New York - Pennsylvania - Massachusetts - New Jersey - Hawaii - Nevada - Arizona - Texas, Colorado, Connecticut, Ohio <-- all less than a day
I'm actually itching to see Montana, Wyoming, and Utah

I've been to:
-Boston (i dont know which state thats in) -Vermont -North Carolina -Illinois (Chicago) -Alaska
But all before I was ten, so my memories are few.
I work with Americans though!
I actually went to Vermont to skii when I was 8yrs old and didnt find out that it was in the states until YEARS later. I never realised i'd left one country and entered another hahahaha (i was living in Canada at the time).

MLK day! wow, i guess that was yesterday. I was in boston playing with some friends who go to BU and Harvard. I totally forgot about MLK Day...I hope that doesn't make me a bad person. Once you're on holiday from school, the days just all merge.
states: Virginia, DC (it's close enough to a state to count), Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New York, Massachusetts, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, California, Oregon, Washington, Vermont, Mississippi and I think those are all the places where I've actually stayed. I've had layovers in some of the midwestern states, but those don't really count.
does everyone still remember the pledge of allegiance? I think I've forgotten that too. Maybe I am a bad person, ha
