I'm turning 26 in a couple of weeks so I guess this question is also addressed to me. I'm in an unusual place, in that I am not making any more money than before- I'm still a student, dragging out the grad school thing. I am getting married in a couple of months - definitely one of the first among my friends. But I don't think that really has any impact on my maturity or activities - I've been a homebody for as long as I can remember, and my activities and commitments don't really change. I do occasionally find myself reverting to my younger ways - I've started watching cartoons again (Justice League is pretty cool and indulges my inner nerd, though I never read comics), occasionally get stupid doing drugs or binge drinking, etc. and I occasionally get nostalgic for my younger womanizing escapades in Latin America in my early 20s. I also heal slower, and am really nursing a recent sprained ankle from basketball. But overall I would say life looks pretty good at 25 - if my friends are getting married, or would rather have a dinner party than go out to a club, that's great to me because I enjoy them just as much. And I certainly look forward to some real paychecks in a few years when I graduate.
I think getting into the late 20s early 30s only really sucks if you are still single but all your friends are married, and you don't enjoy the single life (you are seeking a life partner) but feel like the pool of available talent is being rapidly depleted. I know lots of people who have that mentality - that because they didn't score a great girl in high school or college they are pretty much doomed, all the good ones are taken, etc. - and I think there is some truth there. Any big city is packed full of late 20s early 30s professionals partying it up, but I think the atmosphere is a little different from when you are younger because people are more actively looking for the whole package and not random hookups. I don't think most men have a crisis of being single until they are well into their thirties, though I'm certain many women feel that way before that as they approach the big 30.

it sux being 33 ... everybodies gettin married ...and less parties ...and it's harder to get a GF ...anyway for me it is.... For the looks i'm too young and for the age too old. Dude, I'm 34 next week and I still rock like a legend...haha. But yeah...know the feeling. Mind you, I swear I always feel younger in Asia, I think more people over a wider age range go out there. I may be coming your way (well UK wise) in September btw.

I was watching Oprah today and it was on women in their thirties. I was thinking......women who want a baby so badly, and don't care with who, sorta give off the same vibe as guys in their early twenties who just want to get laid (and they don't care with who ;D). Both give off a desperation vibe in a way. I don't mean to offend anybody, but I guess anyone who's desperate has trouble getting what they want. Just some random thoughts. I do feel really bad for women in that position though. The biological clock really sucks!

I definitely know some people who feel that way, and I think it can be exacerbated with more traditional cultures where it's normal to get married in your early to mid 20's. On a separate note, I'm probably moving out in September. Time to grow up a bit more.

It will be a refreshing change, I'm sure! Congrats Alex! I think it'd be so cool to have your own place. I'm jealous! I moved straight from my mom's place to living with my now hubby. He wasn't too jazzed about pink duvet covers and frilly things. ;D Do you think you'll get roomates or do the solo thing? Decorating will be so fun!
