If I list them in order, I'll probably wind up editing the post a million times, so in no particular order: Fruits Basket, Azumanga Daioh, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Detective Conan(Case Closed), Samurai Champloo, Full Metal Alchemist, Hellsing. I just got started on Elfen Lied.

Great Teacher Onizuka, Fist of the North Star, Gankutsuou, Studio Ghibli stuff (Mononoke, Spirited Away etc), Bleach, Ninja Scroll
[edit] Oh, "explain why"..
Umm.. Onizuka is hilarious, perverted humor. Like a Groucho Marx anime.
Fist of the North Star, Ninja Scroll -- just cool mythical martial arts stuff
Same for Bleach, except it's shonen material -- which puts it in another category. And on that note, I think it's the best shonen anime around. Artistically, comedy wise, action wise, back story wise, etc.
Ghibli movies make me cry, what can I say?
Gankutsuou -- one of my favorite books is the Count of Monte Cristo, and this is one of the cooler adaptations of it.

Desert Punk: Reflects my life.
The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: I was just enamored with it. Actually, saw the Do You Remember Love? movie before Robotech.
Star Blazers: The first anime I ever watched.
Cowboy Bebop: Just very, very cool.
Ghibli stuff:: It's a given.
Inuyasha: My guilty pleasure. I usually don't like the whole neverending travelling, fighting saga. But Rumiko Takahashi's stuff is pretty good. I even like Ranma.
There's a bunch more. I like a lot of it. Good, escapist fun.

There should be an anime series for Battle Royale Have you checked out the manga? It's pretty f**king good. Full Metal Panic Series - REALISTIC MECHA! Makes me actually visualise how it can be possible in our world... Sousuke Sagara is the funniest, serious, retarded protagonist... And he is Eurasian. Makes me wish I were him. Ahhh, I got disc 1 in the mail from blockbuster today, actually. I was starting to get a bit skeptical about it, glad to see a good review of it.

Fortunately, I'm pretty sure that the American BR is stuck in development hell along with the Oldboy remake that was supposedly starring Nicholas Cage. There is Zinda, though- the Indian Oldboy ripoff www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Q-rW1FZMX8

Full Metal Alchemist. I love the fact that there are no true good guys and bad guys (besides a few). You can even sympathize with the bad guys. So many themes in regards to war, technology, religion, fate, etc.

I've only seen FMA on Adult Swim. Can't really get into it. I should get some fansubs -- I thought Naruto was a stupid kid's show when I first saw it, then was blown away by the original versions.

Right now going through some of Osamu Tezuka stuff. Phoenix and Astro Boy. There was an art exhibit on his life and work and really got me interested.

Yes, Must of been last year. So much goes on in my life I forget. I must admit if I didn't see that exhibit I proably would of never really got into Osamu Tezuka. AND that would of been a shame.

Never thought this trend would get that many replies. Most of my trends get only about 2 or 3.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann - I have never seen an anime with so many explosions @.@ but after watching it all (27 eps) makes me just want to yell out "ROW ROW FIGHT DA POWAH!" Black Cat - First half was good then I realised that the plot was getting boring so I resorted to the manga which was worth it One of my favourite manga series Chrno Crusade - Very original romantic plot, girl (who uses guns as a weapon) saves demon by binding her soul with his to that halves her lifespan and they go off to find her brother with the little time they have left <- in a nutshell
