My Father is in hospital.

My Father is in hospital with an oxygen mask over his face. He is 77 years old and although he is not in any immediate danger, I cannot shake the feeling that this might be the last time that I will see him.

He went to his doctor last because his heartbeat had increased and his breath was short. He was then referred to his hospital at once. Praise god for the NHS and the people who run it!

I feel so helpless.

Are you with him now? You should spend as much time with him as you can.

I'm so sorry. My dad's about your dad's age, and it is something I think about a lot. Unfortunately, I've had a lot of practice with having my dad in and out of hospital for a variety of reasons. It's never easy, especially at his age.

My thoughts are with you and I wish your dad a speedy and full recovery!

Szymon, I wish your dad and you all the best.
I just visited my uncle today hes like 56 maybe. And has lymph node problems. He can't talk well and can't eat. Walking to the hospital and to the room was a strange feeling, like hyper real , yet unreal.

Thank you all for your responses. I saw Dad again yesterday afternoon and he was in and out of sleep. Along with this he seemed to be delirious and fitful, wanting to pull out some of sensors that were attached to him.

It seemed odd seeing his name, "Rafaello Manfredi-Von Zalyn" on a chart above his bedrest but I feel better now knowing that his condition is not considered life-threatening and that inspite of everything, it is better to know than to not know.
