Mainly because it reminds me of how much crap I have to listen to when I'm at work because most of my co-workers only listen to commercial radio and talentless brats.

Swans - Killing for Company That song pretty much sounds like suicide in a bathtub. The Ryan Adams version of Down in a HoleThe Beatles - No Reply ...An unlikely candidate for "emo", but it clicks with me on that level: Such a lousy, cheerful vid for a sad song though.

Not all of their stuff is "typically" listenable though. A lot of noise and discordant arrangements. They were part of the NYC "No Wave" movement that Sonic Youth originally came from, but never quite went as poppy or rocked out as SY did. That said, they're probably one of the scarier bands around...and without all of the goofy posturing that "evil" death metal bands try to do.

Not sure if it goes with the thread's theme, but this song is probably the darkest, coldest, most chilling song I've ever listened to. If you've got about 6-7 spare minutes where you won't be distracted, I encourage you to listen to every lyric in this story-telling track with a message behind it:
Immortal Technique - Dance with the devil
(the lyrics are shown in the video but a few of them are slightly incorrect, however I'm sure you'll be able to hear any differences)
Tell me what you think.
