Who did the slaughtering? I'm guessing it was the French Colonial system. I would also like to learn more about our EAs of the past. Shall we start a thread? Something along the lines of : EAN History Library / Study I don't think the French were any better than the Vietnamese, concerning the EAs. Worse, maybe. That's why the EAs got into trouble. Of course I'd like also to get more 'details'. And yes, the French Colonial system was based on the racist ideology. Colonization of a whole country.

I'd like to know more about France, both modern and historical. Do you live there? Hey, that would be still another thread ! But yes, I live in France part time, I'm between France and some England island, for my job. I got interested in the EA issue, historically speaking. Something amazing is that using Google : Hanoi + 'Eurasian quarter', not one reference ! So that's true what Paddy says, that there's very little material.

Thanks for starting the thread Bernie!
I'm planning a Mixed people event for the summer in toronto. Never done anything like this but I'd like to incorporate some historical material somehow. Images, writing, artifacts. Would you be able to point me in a good direction?
The event itsself will consists of performances; comedic and or musical. Poetry, film and art if we can find the right people. The venue is great and has facilites to do all that and cooking too. So right now lots its possible.

Images, writing, artifacts. Would you be able to point me in a good direction? This is really a good idea to think about including a historical perspective ! even the smallest piece of historical facts would be important. since it's 6 months away. There's time to find out a few references.

Hey Ethel, Its definately a maybe! I never done anything like this before but the programmer from the venue I´m working with has put on many events and well I'm relying heavily on him to get the bookings and stuff. I am a curator of sorts. I'm chosing what artist, musicians, comedians , speakers to try and book and he#ll try and book them. Right now I'm still conceptualizing the event. What sorta things to have in it. And reseraching talent , artists etc.
I would LOVE your help! Do u have skype? u can add me: Koobeedoo. If u have stuff to contribute in thread ways, please write in the thread I started : MIXED EVENT
