I think its the abscence of fatherly love that brings women to desire much older men, rather then a really good relationship with them. My dad and i get along superbly and i dont think my crushes when i was 8 - 12 was because i fancied my father or anything, it was more because the boys at school thought i was an absolute minger and not worth paying attention to while the older guys thought i was a delight and loved to natter with me! The last boyfriend i had is 2 years younger, so i'm pretty sure i've grown out of that little embarassing phase You had a crush on a 10 year old at 14? Wowww, you must have really strong maternal instincts.

Haha I'll in that vein I'll admit my recent crush..
I'm almost 40 and I was recently smitten by a girl that's way young for me... about 22!
She hangs out with my social circle (she's an acquaintances' sister), and after a few months we got to talking.. And found we got along really well, having similar personalities & travel experiences. She's an intrinsically nerdy kind of gal (artsy type, book reader, politically active, open minded yet personally conservative).. yet an oxymoron in that she looks like model on the outside. The last few times we met were strange marathon sessions, unusual in depth of our conversation and how physically close we sat with each other... our legs crossing over each other and talking right into each others faces (we didn't consciously acknowledge doing so... we just wanted to hear each other closer and our body language didn't prevent it... i think it was the alcohol too).. it was bizarre to have such a conversation with someone at such similar wavelength.
Anyways I didn't see her for a few months so things cooled down a bit. (I never did asked for her number.) The next time I saw her I admitted I was smitten by her, although by the same time implying that she's way young for me by inserting playful remarks like "too bad you're not older". Haha. She took it well, although she probably thinks I'm being snide. I still won't ask for her number though.

Wowww, you must have really strong maternal instincts. I'd say I do have those instincts. I love kids, and my best/favorite job I've had to date involved working with them. Ironically enough though, at that time, I hated kids and swore that I'd never have any kids of my own. Funny how all that works out eh But yea, I've met some great men who happened to be several years older. I just couldn't see myself getting romantically involved with one. If not my dad, they usually reminded me in some way or another of an uncle or older male relative. It'd just feel too weird for me.

As a kid, I had crushes on two different cousins and one butch lesbian that at the time, I didn't know was actually a female. But I guess that doesn't matter.

There was a big androgynous burger griller at a place called "Oscars" in Berkeley. Nobody could tell if this gruff person was male or female. At some point, we heard that her name was "Millie." So I suppose that was that. I don't know of anyone who had a crush on her. but we all did like her burgers.

^^ My step dad talks about that place all the time!He lived in Berkeley for a long time. Sounds like there's a lot of really yummy places to eat there My mother gives me a hard time whenever we watch 'Seinfeld'.....Apparently I said something about finding 'George' handsome and wanting to marry him when I was younger.

I think the girl at the post office has a crush on me. it's cute. but the fact that I've sent like 15 boxes of stuff to edmonton in the last 3 weeks because I'm moving in 3 days hasn't reached her? Anyway, that's typical pierre luck. I spent like 5 years here and most of that single... now 3 days before I'm leaving someone takes an interest.

Ask her if she wants to go.

I have a bit of thing for authority. I think a couple of people have brought up the whole Oedipus/Electra complex. Well, my dad had a handlebar mustache when I was growing up...so from age 4-12 I really had a thing for any man with a mustache. As in any man...with a stache. This included the elderly and the skeevy. yuck!
