Right now I have an awkward crush on a girl who is a stripper. I met her like a year ago... I was going out with some mates to a bar-café in downtown Monterrey to see Hilda, Shewolf of the SS or something like that... and on the way out we were all laughing and drunk walkin' through some dark streets and then we passed in front of a Bar-Brothel called "Mangoz" and we were like "Oh... look at that place, it's in a basement!" so we went to see how bad it was. It wasn't that bad, cheap beer, and noone thare was annoying you to buy more beer or to boy some service, so we stayed there for a while... and then I told to a friend "look at that girl, she's really nice like if she didn't belong here"... and my friend who is more into strip clubs than me and has such a big mouth went directly towards her and told her that I said something like "it was love on first sight"... and paid a beer for her so I was talkin' with her for a while and she was quite nice... not too smart but ok. She gave me her phone number as she might give it to many other clients. I went to that place a few times... until I didn't find her there anymore, but I never called her nor anything. In September I was in a Metal-Bar celebrating Mexico's independence day... and I decided to send her a message just to say "hi" and ask how she was. She said she was workin' in a place called "Golden" (quite far from downtown... and btw, Monterrey is totally infested with brothels and strip bars, most of them runned by drug cartels). So, as the beer in the Metal Bar costed 2 pesos (0.2 usd) for that day... in my drunkness I decided to go there... and only one friend followed me. From that day on, I start seeing her outside her job... to play pool or to go downtown to dance and drink. And the most weird thing happened on Monday when I was to see her at a new place where she's working right now... called "Chocolate". And we were talking about what we did on Christmas and stuff... and she told me that her mother returned to her house but she fought again with her dad... and so on. Then I asked her where is her mom from... and she told me "I'm not sure, as I never see her too much... from China or Japan, I dunno"... and looking at her face, it's possible. Well, I dunno what to do... I think she's worth it. But my few friends who know about this say I'm a moron 'cause I fell for a whore. I know I made the story quite long... I tried to make it as short as possible... Any thoughts or comments?  ? |

I knew a stripper once, a classmate in speech class. After a while I realize they're pretty much like anybody else.
I'd say be careful that's she doesn't have a lot of associations with cartel 'sponsors'. There's a lot of noise about what's going on with drug cartels... although mostly around baja california

Do you come from a conservative catholic family and are you close to them?
If the answer is yes to both, I'd advise you to keep away. There is a very good chance that in time you will need to choose between her and your family...... Choose her and you will lose much of your family .... her flaws will magnify with each passing day because of that sacrifice you made.... and in time you will come to resent her.
(I'm loathe to quote fiction over personal experience, but if you've seen Becoming Jane and the reasons why Jane rebuffed LeFroy, you'll understand this point)

I agree with stray because there's one fundamental step in a relationship breakdown (in relationships like this) & thats suspicion or jealously both the same - and thats just how guys are programmed.
A stripper, prostitute, pornstar doing what she does is eventually going to get on your nerves invoking suspicion etc.. so now deduct 43% of success rate or relationship.
Unless your a Millionaire who looks like Richard Gere & she's Julia Roberts & the script says "Happy ending" than, hey.. why not?

Thanks to all for sharing your opinions.... Well... I'm not in love with her, maybe "a crush" isn't the correct term, dunno. I just have a medium level of interest. More than with other girls in my life at the moment. And I'm being quite careful with this. But I have nothing to loose, actually... speaking of relationships, there's never something to loose. Rob: I'm not catholic... my mom is, de jure... but she almost never goes to church... she's somewhat conservative, though. Stray: I know that in her works she has many regular clients. At the beginning I was one, I guess. But she's showing some interest I feel honest (havin' been to those places before and in fact I was a waiter in one for one summer)... and my wallet isn't big enough. Mmhh... the first place where I saw her was quite ugly, but I'm sure all the girls there are direct employees. Obviously, I know she might be just working and trying to keep me as a client. But then, why spend time with me outside her work, especially when I'm really far away from a real good client. And now it's rare I go to her work... So, I'm just seeing what happens and how things develop. I know where I'm standing and what to expect most probably... and in the end I'm enjoying this, just 'cause it's different. The only thing that makes me doubt is what will happen if something comes out of this.  |

This world is complete with deliberate and very ignorant self-righteous squids who will always judge a book by it's cover. Three of the most respectable women I've ever met in my life ended up being strippers, go figure.
Is a man who was once an escort as downtrodden in society as a woman? Screw such double standards. To hell with chauvanism. It makes me sick. Good luck with her bro, see how it turns out.
Btw, note that irony exists everywhere. I will never forget a friend of mine who was a stripper, she was a loyal, independent, and her level of honesty was simply to be applaused, I kept her under my protection but I let her go once I found her a man who was able to take her in, a man with his own job, his own house, own business.
A woman like her deserved the very best, she was an angel deeper inside that many do not reach to see. You think I found the same sh*t amongst the majority of women? To hell with that, she will always be in my memory as a good woman. End of story.

Most relationships fail. Her stripping doesn't necessarily doom things - just keep your eye on all the normal signs. You might have a lower chance of success with a horribly insecure woman, an unapologetically selfish woman, a wishy-washy woman who can't make a decision, a sneaky and dishonest woman, a golddigger, etc. Good luck.
Oh, and I don't believe the "med school stripper" story. Maybe that's what she said, but that's urban folklore. Sure, everyone knows someone who knows the stripper who paid for law school, etc. If you believe that I have Mrs. Fields' cookie recipe I can sell you for $10.

my warning had nothing to do with sex or sleeping around or jealousy. and i know the world isn't sugary. i'm not the church lady, y'know. my warning is that they're generally freeloaders, lazy, spoiled, and manipulative. i don't care how sweet they are, and the best thing you can do is just have fun with them, if that. and if somewhere down the line they really start showing that they're not trying to use you in some way, then sure, maybe she's a cool girl. i know only one person like that - and she's "retired", pushing 40, and lives in the real world now hah. but if you haven't even done anything at this point, and you're already falling all in love and sh*t, then that's crazy. I'm afraid that I would have to disagree with such a broad generalisation of the very diverse community. Low class girls who practice in this industry do generally fit the 'freeloader', 'lazy', 'spoiled' category. However, many higher class escorts do not fit such a category and even some come from very wealthy backgrounds. Though, yes, they are very manipulative, as it's their job to be. You may consider manipulative akin to being 'two-faced', but in the end within the community they are also individuals, with their own reasons, own morality even. |
