Concretely would you move to a location with a larger Asian, Eurasian or x population?
Was basing your decision on a racial criterion a good idea?

No one factors in local demographics in their decision?

I tend to favor universal criteria such as crime rate or cost of living that said being able to relate on a cultural level with your neighbors or the local population is still crucial to quality of life, so I guess I take demographics into account but not in terms of race but more in terms of culture.

"Race" per se has NEVER entered into my decision for anything (work, residence, schooling, travel, social activity). Maybe I should?

So moving to HK had nothing to do with it being mostly populated by Chinese and not by Caucasians?

If you mean did *RACE* per se enter the decision, then I would say NO (I mean YES, it had nothing to do with it).
Factors entering decision: * Wanted very badly to get out of the USA * Best languages were English, Mandarin, Cantonese -- exactly the ones used in HK * attracted by dense urban jungle surround by the green protected jungle of the country parks * active, busy, chaotic, but extremely safe * warmer climate (was starting to get sick of 5-6 months below 10C and 3 months of slush) * friends here already * combination of Eastern and Western cultural elements available here * found a job
However, I did not imagine that the rain in the summer here could be so heavy. In my first year here, I saw 24 inches of rain from a single storm and mudslides buried people alive.
Other places attract me (eg, Brazil, Taiwan, Phils), but I would not say it is directly related to race. I don't feel as comfortable in mainland China, but I would not say it has to do with race.
Are you saying we should base these decisions on race? Or are you simply asking whether we did or not? For me, racial demographics is not a major criteria in the decision.
Are racial demographics a major criterion for you?

Not a major one but I still take it into account indirectly through culture.
